  1. Re: Trying to calculate a set placement for dynamic radio buttons?

That's right. Been coding so much in JavaScript lately that my windows forms knowledge is getting rusty.
  2. Re: Trying to calculate a set placement for dynamic radio buttons?

My guess is that by setting the .Size property you're overriding the .AutoSize property. I'm thinking you might have meant to set the .Position property instead of the .Size property.
  3. VS 2010 Re: Add items to combobox from a datagridview Column values

Are you talking about binding the combobox to the same data source as the datagridview, or simply taking values from the datagridview and adding them to a combobox?
  4. VS 2010 Re: How to create an event for the Custom Header Buttons?

You could always just go into the code and manually add the event handler. Let's say the button is named 'LoginButton'. Then you could add code to the form like this:

    Public Sub...
  5. VS 2010 Re: How to create an event for the Custom Header Buttons?

I would guess that you would just double click on the custom header buttons just like you would any other windows forms control - but I've never worked with them myself so I can't say for sure.
  6. VS 2013 Re: Assigning a variable to a class but it shows as "Nothing"?

You need to show us some code. Let us see how you're instantiating the class and how/where you determine if the variable is nothing.

VS 2010 Re: Removing apostrophe from text string

It's not that surprising. It's just that I've seen so many folks use excel for things other than numbers, or for a mix of text and numbers.

VS 2010 Re: Removing apostrophe from text string

Tried some different cell formats... Excel really doesn't like numbers stored as text. Seems to always squawk about it.

Re: UserControl get instance from another form

If you create a usercontrol and call it, say, 'myUserControl', and then add it to a form, that form will contain an instance of 'myUserControl', not 'usercontrol'. The instance you have of...

    Re: Usercontrol issues with properties

In the case of the error you have above, it tells you what is wrong. Apparently the definition you have for the return type of your override is not the same as that of the overrideable property. ...
  12. Re: How to Count character per line in textbox Multiline

VS 2012 Re: A good reference for LINQ and EF

Your solution looks a lot like the one I'm working with now. :) I wonder if my dev lead read the same documentation before starting our project. I'll try my best to read the msdn documentation on...

VS 2012 A good reference for LINQ and EF

I'm on this new project where the database is generated from a data model and we're using LINQ to access the data. So far just about every data access thing I do seems like pure magic. I...
  15. VS 2013 Re: use a my.setting entry as a parameter of a sub/function or class property

I'm not exactly sure what you need, but My.Settings has an Item property that takes a string argument as the name of the property to be searched for. Maybe that could be of use to you. You could...

    Re: MS Access VB.NET

A data reader is a forward-only data reader used to read the data at high speed. However, it can't be used to bind to a DataGridView. So if you're wanting to bind to a datagridview, you'll need...

    Re: Textbox formula

Sure, it's possible. You could have the user input a regular expression that allows your app to substitute the values of NAME and AGE. You could also use a roll-your-own scheme, where you have...
  20. VS 2013 Re: ERROR: Parameter ?_1 has no default value. Visual Studio 2013

Check your parameters and make sure they all have values. My guess is that it's the first parameter - room_number - that is not being set. That is... CStr(htData("room_number")) is returning a null...
  21. VS 2012 Re: DataGridView Takes Longer to Bind When Executed Outside of Visual Studio

  22. VS 2012 Re: DataGridView Takes Longer to Bind When Executed Outside of Visual Studio

Have you tried moving the exe to a different machine and seeing if the problem happens there as well?
  23. VS 2012 Re: DataGridView Takes Longer to Bind When Executed Outside of Visual Studio

My only thought - and I'm not trying to be a wise guy or anything like that - is that perhaps the ide and the exe are not pointing to the same datasource to fetch their data. That is, is something...

  26. Re: need an example of querying XML data (I already have the full XML as a string)

Actually, you're pulling the whole node - which includes any child nodes that may be under it (in my example, there wasn't one) and any attributes of the node.

If you want the value of a node, you...

VS 2013 Re: copy selected datagridrow to new row

I would probably go at it in reverse. I would copy the underlying datarow from the datatable that represents that row in the datagridview. Once you've copied the datarow, then you would change the...

  31. Re: FTP vs Shared Folders - Is it worth the effort?

  33. Re: Transferring strings from a List to a TextBox

Well, given the code you've shown above, the list will only have one string in it, so you can simply assign TextBox1.Text = Code.

But now assuming you have more than one item in the list, you...
