  2. Re: How to find the correct ProgID to use with CreateObject Function?

Then you are posting in the wrong forum. Try the one for Office macro scripting.

But as it says on MSDN:

And CreateObject makes use of CLSIDFromProgID.

    There are no version-dependent...

  4. Re: Restaurants that do not serve the food featured in their name.

We used to have a local joint heavily trafficked by students back in the day: Lizard's Underground. It was definately "underground" on a subgrade level of the building but I never saw any lizard on...

    "The Man From Earth"

This is a pretty decent film, though it starts slowly. It is best watched with others, so you can watch the reactions which may include a bit of squirming.

There are a few Star Trek franchise...

    [VB6] High Quality Multimodal Printing

This is a refinement of a .BAS module I answered a question thread with.

Basically the module has some helper functions for printing. These let you print in a non-WYSIWYG manner in a sort of...
  7. Re: smallest (most portable) device that can run VB6 programs ?

It isn't about what you "think," but about what is happening.

Current Atom processors for mobile are indeed heavily subsidized in order to gain market share. Intel loses money on each one. This...
  8. Re: How to find the correct ProgID to use with CreateObject Function?

You can't directly make use of CLSID values in VB6. They get used under the covers when you have a reference set, but you cannot use them with CreateObject() calls and normally you'd never have a...

    Re: IP Camera in VB6

True, still frame snapshots often use another URL and if all you want are snapshots that could be easier. You can then use almost anything that can do an HTTP GET request including VB6 itself...

Re: Using mouse scroll wheel with VB scrollbar

Yep, and that's how I declared them in the demo I posted. ;) Even good back to Windows 95 with the Desktop Update.

Of course with everything pre-Vista dead now...
  11. Re: vb6 created application running on $99 Tablet

Makes you wonder where this will end up then:

Building universal Windows apps for all Windows devices

Where "all" means those devices that run WinRT or Phone 8. At least this makes it clear...

Re: Using mouse scroll wheel with VB scrollbar

I'll admit that my attempts at wry humor usually fail.

Re: Using mouse scroll wheel with VB scrollbar

Hey, the code posted above, simplistic as it is, will work on XP. You just don't get the ability to horizontal scroll. Perhaps you know of a pre-Vista message supporting it though?

    As for the...

    Re: IP Camera in VB6

No, but it can be tricky to figure out the correct URL to retrieve M-JPEG streams from a given camera. Some even have more than one.

    Re: IP Camera in VB6

The easiest tool I've found is AXIS Media Control which is basically free if your camera(s) support Motion JPEG (M-JPEG). If you need MPEG-4 or H.264 you will need 3rd party decoders though.
  24. Re: vb6 created application running on $99 Tablet

    Re: [VB6] Virtual 5.0 ListView

Feel free to give it a try!

But remember, displaying huge lists is already a poor design approach as it is. Trying to make it into some mega-spreadsheet just takes a bad idea even further over a...
  26. Re: smallest (most portable) device that can run VB6 programs ?

Watch out for Windows 10. It is becoming clear that Microsoft intends to brand Windows RT 10 blandly as just "Windows 10" to fool consumers.

This updated Windows RT appears to target ARM...
  27. Re: vb6 created application running on $99 Tablet

So the deployment model is one of the bigger showstoppers. Pretty much as people expected from day one.

Surprising they haven't found a way to leverage their ClickOnce technology for this.

    Re: [VB6] Virtual 5.0 ListView

Version 1.2 with sorting support, though the client (Form1 here) deals with the actual sorting since it "owns" the data, this being an actually virtual ListView.

    Re: [VB6] Virtual 5.0 ListView

Using LVIF_DI_SETITEM almost entirely defeats the purpose of using a virtual ListView in the first place. Try it with 100,000 or 1,000,000 items and watch your memory requirements grow and...
  30. Re: vb6 created application running on $99 Tablet

I'm not sure why WinRT is an obstacle for .Net programmers. Microsoft has pretty much given away everything required to do that, so it just becomes yet another of the several ways you "hold your...

I found the bug, but I'll look at sorting before posting an update.
  34. Re: vb6 created application running on $99 Tablet

Fair point. Basically at 7" or under you have a bulky phone so you'd have to have huge buttons and such anyway to deal with finger-resolution no matter how high the pixel density is.

    But I think...

  36. Re: Detect if Im Running In a Virtual Machine & more

  37. Re: Printing graphics, text, etc. with high clarity. Is it possible?

  40. Re: Printing graphics, text, etc. with high clarity. Is it possible?

How about an approach like this demo? Just a thought, might not be what you are after.

When running in the IDE you may get a "collating sequence" exception. That's a known issue with the VB6 IDE...
