  1. Re: Select a line of a simple text file item search, to delete.

    Why does my email notification say that the title of this thread is Get Index of a simple text file item search when the actual title is Select a line of a simple text file item search, to delete
  2. Re: Get Index of a simple text file item search.

    You read a text file
    You put all data from file in sData except for "," so sData contains each piece of text that lies between the commas
    You see if sData(0) is same as Text2.Text. If it is then...
  3. Re: Concatenating two strings and a variable

    I finally wound up using something similar to what penagate posted:

    printf("s_rgbn[%d] = %d", index, s_rgbn[index]);
  4. Re: Inter-process communication with C# application

    Dilittante has a ShellPipe control which works just fine as long as your C# uses StdIn, StdOut, and StdErr. Nice thing about it is you don't need to make any changes to your C# applictation
  5. Re: Inter-process communication with C# application

    Of course as long as both or all apps have Winsock.
  6. Re: Compare string1 to string2 and identify differences

    Well you could convert the strings to byte arrays and compare them byte by byte which would be faster but the prinicipal is the same
  7. Re: Compare string1 to string2 and identify differences

    I know that. I'm just being redundant so someone can come along and make a comment on it and maybe OP didn't do Steps 1 and 2 like I posted:)
  8. Re: Compare string1 to string2 and identify differences

    Looks like you are going to need to compare each string character by character.

    Step 1) Compare each string1 to string2.

    Step 2) If same then goto Step1

    Step 3) Compare the strings again...

  10. Concatenating two strings and a variable

    I'm converting a C program to VB. I know how to do my question in VB but I don't know how to do it in C

    I have two strings and a variable:

    String1 = "s_rgbn["
    String2 = "]"
    Variable1 = 133

    Similar to calling a sub by name is there any such function to initialize a variable by name
  15. Re: Webbrowser - loading document complete more then one time

    Use the BeforeNavigate2 to get your pages first. Cancel them until you get the one(s) you want then allow those to be loaded.

  16. Re: Prevent Form2 show when i click on Form1...

    I see where Bonnie has two SetWindowLong statements where LaVolpe only has one. Would this make a difference in the behavior of the two Forms
  17. Re: Prevent Form2 show when i click on Form1...

    What do you mean you tried to compile exe?

    It doesn't matter, exe or run in IDE you will get same results as far as the Forms showing.
  18. Re: Prevent Form2 show when i click on Form1...

    It's normal behavior

    When you start project both Forms show because you have Form2.Show. When you click on any other app, like the IDE, Form2 goes behind the other app as expected because only...
  19. Re: Calling a function from a structure and passing the arguments

    There are 24 commands.

    I changed the method to Select Case instead which works fine.

    I like your using class approach and probably will wind up using that way later but for now I will stay...

  21. Re: Structure defined but code say object required

    OK, I found the reason. I had another function in the same module before the structure; when I moved the structure before the function it worked OK

    Re: Generate random numbers

    So, for 0 - 255 I use:

    RandomNumber = Int((255 - 0 + 1) * Rnd + 0)

    And for 100 - 200 I use:

    RandomNumber = Int((200 - 100 + 1) * Rnd + 100)

    Re: Generate random numbers

    OK I changed it to

    In Form_Load:
    Randomize

    In a Function:
    RandomNumber = Int(Rnd * 256)

    Now it generates random numbers 0 thru 255
