  1. Re: I need a vb.net INSERT example to an Access 2007 table example.

    no.. a parameterized query...

    looks like this:

    Insert into tblMine(F1, F2, F3) values (?,?,?)

Then from the code you would add parameters and set their values, (Parameters.Add or...
  2. Re: I need a vb.net INSERT example to an Access 2007 table example.

    no... it's not any different... the syntax is "insert into {tablename} (field1, field2,...) values (Value1, Value2, ...)"

the problem are your field names ... you've got spaces in them... the...
  3. VS 2012 Re: Can someone explain Why this doesn't work all the time.

Are you calling the code in the form Load event by chance... and are you running this on a Win7 64-bit machine perchance?
If so, there might be a reason it "doesn't work"

  4. VS 2012 Re: Can someone explain Why this doesn't work all the time.

so is the call in the Form Load event or what? if all it is doing is downloading something and then moving on, then maybe a winform isn't the way to go... or you need something else... hard to say...
  5. VS 2012 Re: Can someone explain Why this doesn't work all the time.

And where is DownloadUpdates called from? Have you tried setting breakpoints and stepping through the code to see where it's going and when?

  6. Re: Most examples in the CodeBank are profoundly difficult to understand ...

something else to keep in mind, the codebank submissions tend to be a reflection of 1) the person that wrote it and 2) technology at the time.
Meaning, for some of them, take it with a grain (or...
  7. Re: Insanely incredible things read on the interwebtubenets today.

Google's algo I guess... I subscribed to some space-related communities - Like NASA, New Horizons and a couple others, so for what ever reason it gives me "What's recommended" and includes some of...
  8. Re: Insanely incredible things read on the interwebtubenets today.

It's not so much that there's dumb people on the interwebtubenets... it's the level at which these people "function" ... and these people likely actually believe what they post...
    it's still...
  9. Re: Problems connecting to Access DB from VB.Net windows form

when the error happens, what is the value of connStringAccess ... not what you THINK it should be... but what is it REALLY? You should be able to find it's value vby mousing over it when the IDE...

and if it's related to this thread: http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?803615-RESOLVED-save-and-export-file-from-database it might explain the lack of help.

  12. Re: [RESOLVED] how to save/extract binary from db to file

well there wasn't much info here and 4 hours overnight is hardly any time at all...

    what dbms are you using?
what kind of file are you extracting?
what do you plan to do with it?

  13. VS 2012 Re: Can someone explain Why this doesn't work all the time.

    1) where is the Download routine located? This suggests that it is not in the form "If I put the routine in a form by itself " -- so where is it?
    2) where are you calling Download from?
    3) Where...
  14. Insanely incredible things read on the interwebtubenets today.

It's still early (somewhat) yet (for me anyways) ... but I think the bar has been set pretty high (or is it low in this case)...

I've read some pretty interesting comments before that showed a...

Re: How to Shell a program with switches?

check yourself dude... the solution you posted, was essentially the same as what as proposed in post #2 - using ShellExecute - there's nothing wrong with that, you're late to the game (so am I), but...

Re: Assign dynamic value to checkboxes

This should be in the office development forum... VBA isn't quite the same as VB6. I'll ask the mods to move it.

  17. VS 2013 Re: [RESOLVED] [Help] returning an SqlDataReader in WCF Service ASP.NET-VB

If I may - If all you are going to return is a single table, I'd suggest using a DataTable, less over head. I'd only use a DataSet if you were returning more than one tble in a single call.

  18. VS 2013 Re: I can't read new javascript html generated into webbrowser

Sounds like it is using AJAX to inject the html into the page... in which case, yeah, you're to find it. I have never quite been able to figure it out why since it's added to the dom, it should be...
  19. VS 2008 Re: syntax error in update and Insert statement - access database

I'd go far as to be pedantic enough to say that the initial statement is BS anyways - SQL is language - Structured Query Language - but it is not a product. Most major DBMSs use SQL of some kind,...
  20. Re: update via datagridview not updating the sql server back-end

The point was that result is an empty datatable and you're telling the database to update with an empty datatable... so of COURSE it doesn't save, you're not sending it the changed data. You should...
  21. VS 2010 Re: iF...ELSEIF vs SELECT CASE would make a difference in retrieving rows into datagr

Of course you could... and it would work just like the other comboboxes you're already using.

VS 2010 Re: Reportviewer ticks to date

if you set the field in the designer to "Short Date" then it should be local aware enough to display the date based on locality settings... then you don't need to explicitly worry about the format.
