This topic comes up fairly regularly, but I haven't heard of anything good. In earlier versions of .Net (up to 2008 I think)...

  9. Re: Program runs in the background even after I close it using Red X button in window

Apologies for that - I wouldn't say your advice was bad, just not as complete (or as relevant to the situation) as what DataMiser posted.
  10. Re: Program runs in the background even after I close it using Red X button in window

It might seem to "solve" the problem, but it often creates far more problems (which is why the help says not to use it).

There are a couple of articles about this in our Classic VB FAQs (in the...

I'm assuming this is the VB Editor inside Access, in which case it is VBA, and belongs in our Office Development forum... so I have moved it there.

    Re: Date format in VBScript

If a data type is something other than String, there is no format... formats only apply when you put values into a String.

    Re: SQL Query

SQL varies by which database system (and version) you are using.

If it is SQL Server, you should be able to use this:

    SELECT
SUM (CASE WHEN LTM = 1 THEN SPEND ELSE 0 END) SPEND1,
    ...

  30. Re: Using a mathematical identity to speed up certain calculations.

Just because the same person wrote them clearly does not mean they have the same quality.

That is intentionally taking things the wrong way to cause an argument, aka Trolling.

    Trolling again...
  31. Re: Evaluating boolean value of a string...?

You should be indicating to the Scriptcontrol that the values are strings. I don't know how it expects that to be done, perhaps like this:

" 'ALW457' Like 'ALW*' "or perhaps like this:

    "...
  32. Re: Using a mathematical identity to speed up certain calculations.

Both being valid clearly does not mean they are of equal quality. If you wrote one and a beginner wrote the other, we would expect the quality of yours to be better.

In the context of a speed...

  36. Re: Using a mathematical identity to speed up certain calculations.

While I don't dispute the change of preference for method based on a different data set, there is obvious bias in your code against the Gauss method.

In SumNaive you optimise the Ubound call...
