Re: Need a simple demo for vbRichClient.cFSO

Haven't tried it but a quick look at the Object Browser reveals a MoveFile function:

Function MoveFile(SrcFileName As String, DstFileName As String, [ReplaceExisting_Dst As Boolean = False]) As...
  2. Re: How to tell the pixels of a JPEG image file using VB6

In this particular instance, that may well be the case, since this sounds like a one-off exercise on the part of the OP. But, let's be fair, the thread started to side-track toward the most peformant...
  3. Re: How to tell the pixels of a JPEG image file using VB6

I don't understand you sometimes, dil and I pay attention to what you post because I hold you in high esteem, knowledge-wise. You seem to have this purist view that everything should be coded around...
  4. Re: VB6 Handling of Alpha-Layered Windows with vbRichClient5

The Cairo surface object has a number of methods to write out it's content to an image file (Surface.WriteContentToJpgFile "C:\picture.jpg" is one) and also the ability to Draw it's content to a...

    Re: Image Carousel Class [vbRichClient]

Update: Enhanced the demo a little to illustrate how to use the parameters in the events that the carousel class raises (in this case a transition effect for the captions)

    Image Carousel Class [vbRichClient]

Here's a class that you can use to create Image Carousel controls as either standard VB6 User Controls or vbRichClient widgets. This demo shows how to do the former; the UC is just a small wrapper...

  9. Re: [RESOLVED] How to show picturebox outside UserControl

The tip stays visible on the screen, of course. All lonesome and orphaned :(

Worse still, if the user Alt-Tabs to another application, the tooltip will appear over the top of the newly focused...

    Re: [RESOLVED] DrawText issue

You can probably use some of the code from the project I recently posted here if you insist on creating your own from scratch:

  11. Re: Tooltips, Balloon Tips, Tray Notofications [vbRichClient]

Tidied the code a little and simplified the sub-classing aspects. Also fixed a couple of small drawing errors; one with the tips shadow and the other with the close button.

    Oh, and enhanced the...
  12. Re: Tooltips, Balloon Tips, Tray Notofications [vbRichClient]

Updated zip file to incorporate the suggestions from #2, including the slide-in effect.
  13. Re: Tooltips, Balloon Tips, Tray Notofications [vbRichClient]

No problem, Olaf. Though you might want to see if you can improve upon the sizing/positioning aspects of the balloon and its stem. If you can do that the code-size might reduce drastically! My brain...
  14. Re: Tooltips, Balloon Tips, Tray Notofications [vbRichClient]

Thanks jp. :) I'll look into those suggestions and upload a revised version a little later...
  15. Tooltips, Balloon Tips, Tray Notofications [vbRichClient]

Here's a dll I've created that provides visually nicer and enhanced (functionality-wise) tooltips. It is dependent on Olaf's vbRichClient (the nice drawing comes via Cairo functionality) but is...

  17. Re: Stumped on issue with mshflexgrid and overlaid textbox.

I think some of the problems relate to the order in which events fire.
Anyway, this approach should cover most of what you are trying to achieve, or at least help to see the solution from a...

Re: DEVIDE string in 4 parts

Yes, the OP says that "-" delimits field 1 from the rest but that doesn't mean that "-" won't appear in vars 2,3 or 4 does it? In which case #3 and #5 will not work without further code. Personally,...

Re: DEVIDE string in 4 parts

Just pointing it out. :) Although, saying that, both #3 and #5 seem perfectly happy to assume that a dash can never appear within a field's contents which is no less valid as a blanket assumption!

Re: DEVIDE string in 4 parts

Just to throw in a quick hint; you don't need to specify a single character as the the delimiter when using the Split function. So, for posts #3 and #5, you can use

    s = Split(Data, " - ")

    and...
  22. Re: Video-Decompression with the VCM (ICM-Win32-API)

Hmm. Pretty sure that #26 has mutated considerably since it was first posted as there was no mention of 'bias supporting' (and several other things) at the time I made #27.

    @si
    Do your mod...
  23. Re: Video-Decompression with the VCM (ICM-Win32-API)

Hmm. That sounds just as sinister as anything that you are trying to protect us from! ;)

But, humour aside, I don't see why Olaf's work cannot, at least, be considered as an exception to your...
  24. Re: Video-Decompression with the VCM (ICM-Win32-API)

There are several reasonable and valid observations already made within this thread so I'll not add to them at this point since Funky Dexter has not submitted anything since Post #4.

    I do,...

Re: What if there was a NEW vb6

My exact thoughts when I first read through the OP's draft copy; not exactly persuasive. And this is compounded by Shaggy's equally valid observations about the veracity of the numbers in the first...
  28. Re: How to Link any label or command button to any website

Meh, not so sure about that. Most threads are unrated period. This suggests that the ONLY people who tend to rate threads are the OP's of those threads. Remove the functionality from them and it...

I realised that was possible when I noticed that salsa's threads always got 5 stars!

Same reason this one did, probably. ;)

    Re: ZOrder doesn't work

Yes, already pointed out my mistake! What happens when you do the opposite of what you are currently doing? i.e. send Picture1(0) to the back via Picture1(0).Zorder 1

  36. Re: Using a mathematical identity to speed up certain calculations.

Pretty sure you added that to your post after Olaf's reply in #30 (i.e. in your edit of 30/6/14 @ 12:14am) - back-dating your posts is hardly playing fair!

I'd quite like to see your solution to...

  38. Re: Using a mathematical identity to speed up certain calculations.

I think it's pretty obvious that one needs the combinations of all elements in order to exclude the intersections. And this, of course, is easily coded when the number of elements and their values...
  39. Re: Using a mathematical identity to speed up certain calculations.

Concur. Original post was a "large arithmetic error".
  40. Re: Using a mathematical identity to speed up certain calculations.

Awww shite. I mis-read your post #8 and thought that you hadn't allowed for the multiple-multiples scenario. Didn't even test it, in fact. Just went to work trying to eliminate them! Laughing at my...
