Re: Just thinking about the VBForums Rep

You'll also find that different people give different amounts of reputation when they rate your posts. New members give zero points, but they can still do a rep and leave a 'thank you' type message. ...
  2. Sticky: VS 2012 Re: Tech IQ: How Well Do You Know Visual Basic.NET 2012?

I have to beg to differ a bit on this. C# has always been C# (except when it was 'Cool'). Visual C# was Visual C#.NET. Stating the obvious, Visual C#/Visual C#.NET is Microsoft's implementation of...

    Feedback - PHP OOP

On one of our other sites, we published an article on OOP with PHP. It is getting some odd feedback. I'm not a PHP guy, so I need help. If anyone has time, can you tell me if this article is bad,...

    Re: Undead threads

I only took a quick look in vBulletin, but I didn't see anything that automatically closes threads after a certain period. I don't know if there are add-ins for this.

    Re: Different mobile development options

Sites like Meetup.com are what I use here in the United States. There are a couple of others similar sites took but that one is the one most groups are using now.

    Re: what makes developers tick?

That's what they said when 2D scanners were created and then sold. Now nearly every 'desktop' printer has a scanner. Same principles apply to 3D that applied to 2D.

    Re: Different mobile development options

What type of mobile development are you wanting to do? That will impact what makes the most sense. Xamarin is very popular right now and Phonegap was previously the top dog. As such, either are...

Great information. There are a lot of side discussions I'd like to start, but will bite my tongue and keep the focus on the questions at hand. I hope others are finding the responses interesting as...

Thanks for the responses so far - it is still early, so I expect there will be more.

Let me add a couple of add-on questions that are a little more specific....

    what makes developers tick?

I'm putting this in chit chat because I'd like frank open answers. My question is, however, serious and one asked of me.

The question was "what makes developers tick?" This is particularly...

    Re: Sticky Thread Needed

I see this not going well. I think you are going to find that the list / thread gets spammed with every individual's site that is even remotely related.
  16. Re: Thread Display Options - Show Threads...

The default thread date range (or whatever it is called) is NOT the same for each forum. On newer forums, we set it to "from the beginning" until there are a lot of threads. On other forums, the...

  21. Re: Can we improve VBForums Star Rating system?

    I'm with Steve.... ;) :)

The most common five star rating used today is Amazon and most people think of them in the same way they are applied on Amazon, which means 1 is bad and 5 is good. Sure,...

We didn't completely ignore you. It is/was really a matter of priorities and developer/tech time.

  29. Re: why isn't there a code-tag button in the quick reply?

I believe that is actually a cut of VB..... That's the highlight tag.
  30. Re: why isn't there a code-tag button in the quick reply?

so much for the idea of waiting to see if they notice.... ;)
  31. Re: why isn't there a code-tag button in the quick reply?

It simply wasn't included by the developers of this software in the quick reply box. This is third party software - we didn't write it. You can simply type the code tags in.

  39. Re: Am I allowed to correct bad rendering myself ?

  40. Re: Am I allowed to correct bad rendering myself ?
