    Re: Installing VB6 Enterprise [RESOLVED]

    I know this is an old thread but it popped up on a Google search and I had the same issue installing on Windows 7 from a network folder. Copying the folder to the C: drive solved the problem.

    VS 2013 Re: Help with ms word file with vb.net

    I'm not that good at Word...I just know that little trick about running a macro to generate code. I use it in Excel a lot. Sit tight, another member may chime in.

    Re: Count Vowels Code not working

    It looks like that would work fro "Sky" but not "Every". "Y" isn't allows a vowel. That little quirk in English could be a tough nut to crack. Maybe some kind of counter and if "Y" is the only...

    I haven't done that but here is the code generated from running a macro. Sometimes it is a good start:

    Re: need help combobox

    Your doing something I've never seen before. My example is loading a combobox one item at a time usually from a loop. I don't think I can help you. Sorry!

    Re: need help combobox

    I don't see where you loaded the combobox. If you loaded it using my suggestion this:

    val1 = Combo1.ListIndex

    would be

    val1 = Combo1.ItemData(Combo1.ListIndex)

    Just another way to skin that cat. It leaves listindex alone but you can assign what you want for later reference.

  16. Re: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation

    I never once said "that indexes wont help in the situation". That just shows you don't understand what I am saying. You need to look again and try and understand the terms I'm using and what I am...
  17. Re: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation

    We have some stored procedures that sometimes get really slow and recompiling them speeds them back up. We even have a job set up to compile certain SPROCs a couple times a day. The idea is to get...
  18. Re: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation

    A table having indexes and a query being sargable are two different things. So what do you mean saying, ?well, psExamResultMstr.paidflag, psExamResultMstr.pk_psExamResultMstr, pspatitem.rendate and...
  19. Re: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation

    I first glance I don't think indexes will help because of the way the query is written. It looks non SARGABLE to me. There are where conditions that are calculated and the ranges between variables....

  25. Re: Extract the most left 5 characters from list box

    It really is very clear. The problem is what so many users have said to me over the years:
