  1. Re: Trying to access "deleted" records inside a dBase III database

Hate to make this a one-man show and answer my own questions, but after a few weeks of searching, trying and mostly failing, I decided to abandon the Jet Engine altogether and I wrote my own (set of)...
  2. Re: Trying to access "deleted" records inside a dBase III database

I'm guessing by the lack of response this is either not possible or incredibly difficult to implement. Either way, it's apparently not something trivial.

I found one way to make deleted records...
  3. Re: Trying to access "deleted" records inside a dBase III database

Yes, that simply enumerates the index files...
  4. Re: Trying to access "deleted" records inside a dBase III database

Thanks, but I don't see anything on that page that helps me "see" deleted records? Or am I overlooking something?
  5. Re: Trying to access "deleted" records inside a dBase III database

I'm sorry, but remarks like these irk me to no end. I use a whole range of programming languages ranging from C (yes, the old flat C), to C#.Net, to VB.Net, VB5, VB6, Perl, PHP, HaXE, x86 ASM, Java,...
  6. Trying to access "deleted" records inside a dBase III database

I'm writing a program in VB5 that needs to access an old DOS program's dBase III files. I have no problem accessing those files but I need to access the "deleted" records as well (as you know, dBase...
  7. Re: Example of how to get a list of installed programs (like Add and Remove Programs)

Yes I did that and it didn't work. What did work eventually, was going to Tools -> Options -> Projects and Solutions -> General, then tick "Always show solution". Then in the Solution Explorer, right...
  8. Re: Example of how to get a list of installed programs (like Add and Remove Programs)

Doesn't matter really, since the project I want to use this for can't use x64 as a target anyway... :(

Anyway, you were thinking about including getting the application's icons as well. Is that...
  9. Re: Example of how to get a list of installed programs (like Add and Remove Programs)

Oddly enough, I can't change the target platform. In your test app, I can't change it from "Active (Any CPU)" and in my app I can't change it from "Active (x86)"...
  10. Re: Example of how to get a list of installed programs (like Add and Remove Programs)

I had considered that, but wouldn't your test app fail too then?
  11. Re: Example of how to get a list of installed programs (like Add and Remove Programs)

Quick question. First of all, I'm just starting with VB.Net so I'm kinda new to this (not new to programming though).

    Your test application works fine.

I created a new project and just pasted...
  12. Re: What do I need for distributing VB5.0 applications?

Ok, thank you very much for your help so far. :thumb:
  13. Re: What do I need for distributing VB5.0 applications?

Oh and another thing. I was reading Miscrosoft's website about the licensing (confused the heck out of me to be honest). The thing that confused me a bit (right before my machine crashed so I can't...
  14. Re: What do I need for distributing VB5.0 applications?

    User Licence for VS 97
    VS 97 Retail CD
  15. Re: What do I need for distributing VB5.0 applications?

Both the Retail CD and the single user license are under $100 and I don't mind at all just buying those if I can be sure that's all I need to legally distribute VB 5 apps.

So if I bought those, am...
  16. What do I need for distributing VB5.0 applications?

I own a (legal) copy of Visual Studio 98 Enterprise Edition. I sell a few apps written in VB6.0.

But I also want to sell some apps written in VB 5.0 for various reasons (it all has to do with my...
