    Re: ip calculator in vb6

I know all of that, DM, but I don't think that is the question I am asking. I can see they increment no matter where I post and they go up but they don't stay the same. So if OP here had a count of...
  2. Re: Socket in array not closing.

No, that is not necessary. A properly written server/client does not require a signal (/exit) to inform the server it is closing it's socket(s). When the client "stops" as you put it I'm assuming you...
  3. Re: Adding a new control to newly created tab in sstab

No, Ken, it's by bad, not yours. I just picked up on Tab control and grabbed the one and only Tab control I had on my Toolbox and used it without realizing it as being different from the one you are...
  4. Re: Extract the most left 5 characters from list box

All this other stuff is fine and dandy but I don't see what it has to do with OP's original question which has already been answered. Now if OP is satisfied with the answer then please say so and are...
  5. Re: Socket in array not closing.

What do you mean ....surprised nobody else has. Maybe nobody else has this problem you are talking about. I know I haven't.

I can't tell by your server code anything about your problem as it looks...
  6. Re: Modeless form while a modal form is open

It can be shown; it just cannot continue on with the code until the Modal Form is closed.

    Re: ip calculator in vb6

I have four prior posts and all say 9032 before I post this one. So, they are not being incremented but I already stated that but when you have two posts that are far from each other the count should...
  8. Re: Socket in array not closing.

Your code example does not really say anything. You need to post code from client side as well. You need to post all code that server deals with and all code that client deals with because it is very...
  9. Re: Adding a new control to newly created tab in sstab

OK, I have version 6(SP4) Tab Control @2000 and OP is using version 6 @1997

Damn, I hate that when there are two completely different controls versions and no one spells out which one they're using
  10. Re: Adding a new control to newly created tab in sstab

The Tab Control I have looks nothing like this one. No wonder there's a mixup.
  11. Re: Adding a new control to newly created tab in sstab

I have only one Tab control with my VB6 and it is called TabStrip so what else is there and if it is not this one then OP should have mentioned he was using something else. What I posted about the...
  12. Re: Socket in array not closing.

It's very difficult to try an analyze your problem without seeing what your code is doing. What you say and what is happening can be two different things
  13. Re: Adding a new control to newly created tab in sstab

What do you mean....an invisible listbox (list1(0)) set on Tab1? How do you set a listbox on a Tab if the Tab is not a container?

Also, SSTab1.Tab = aa is invalid which is what you coded
  14. Re: Socket in array not closing.

If the client closes his socket or the app closes then the server will receive notification in it's socket close event. If you send data to an already closed socket the server will be notified in...
  15. Re: Adding a new control to newly created tab in sstab

How can you say it works when the red highlighted statements are invalid
  16. Re: Adding a new control to newly created tab in sstab

You could use a Picturebox for each Tab. On the Pictureboxes place your controls for each tab. When you click on any tab then you bring the Picturebox associated with that tab to the foreground using...

    Re: ip calculator in vb6

That doesn't make any sense. You had to be the one that went and got this old thread so how could you be thinking he was a new user and was searching through his post threads before you got this...

    Re: ip calculator in vb6

How do you post back in 09 with a count of 10 and then post again yesterday and still have a count of 10? Are your posts not incremented each time you post? (I know they are not if you post one...
  21. Re: Extract the most left 5 characters from list box

    Use Left$("D0001 Arn Daniel",5)

    Dim s As String

    s = Left$(List1.List(some_index), 5)

    Re: Getting feedback from shell

Have you given any thought to using sockets. In VB you would use Winsock and I'm sure Perl has it's own socket controls.

    Re: Getting feedback from shell

Try using this ShellPipe User Control.
  25. Re: invalid pattern string Error

Glad you pointed that out otherwise no one would have known about your post 8
  26. Re: invalid pattern string Error

I'm sure you're right and I gave it some thought but decided to go by what OP posted his problem was....

    Reading OP's post....

Re: Made a game, wanna try it out?

OMG! Your'e right, NW, your'e absolutely right. And I am so happy you pointed that out so as to help me in the future not to make that mistake again. Thank you, thank you so much.
  30. Re: [RESOLVED] Easy way the switch images around

Re: how to reverse this function

Your functions does not convert 720 to "000D0720"; it returns ""

    and

720 is not equal to hex 000D0720

therefore you cannot convert input "00 0D 07 20" to output of 720

    You can make a...

Have you posted this in the game forum?
  34. Re: Changing Array Index Numbers

After some testing using various methods it turns out that the one that results in the least amount of code change is to use the VariableIndex.

One Sub was added to do two things when board is...
  35. Re: How to extract two values from a single value

OK, didn't know I could use Mid on a numeric variable; thought it was for strings only.

    Thanks
  36. [RESOLVED] How to extract two values from a single value

Let's say I have the following value in a variable:

    VarNumber = 11257

Now I want to extract out the 12 and put that in another variable then I want to extract out the 57 and put that in another...
  37. Re: Changing Array Index Numbers

That would require a lot of code changing not to mention I would have to test if board has been turned around at every point in the code that deals with the board squares indexes....a ton of changes....
  38. Re: Create Class and put new methods/property for a control

Yes, I know that but that was what I thought he was asking so I showed him even though I knew you should not do that (I give the benefit of doubt to the OP)
  39. [RESOLVED] Changing Array Index Numbers

I'm trying to come up with a way to swap sides in a table game.

The game board is made of 64 trapezoid shaped image controls indexed 0 - 63

When the game first starts up and by default the game...
  40. Re: Create Class and put new methods/property for a control

In your Class module you reference a control which will be on some Form (not in the Class module) like this:

Form1.control where control is a control on Form1. To reference one of it's properties...
