Don't use the form opacity property. Use the form.transparentkey property instead. Set both the form's backcolor AND transparentkey properties to an ugly color that you likely will not use anywhere else in your form.
that wont work because if i did that i'll be able to click the icons with the mouse but if i use form opacity i'll be seeing my desktop but wont be able to use the mouse on it thats the idea but i want the button and textbox to enter the password be 100% opacity

hey new1.. Got a problem some thing like the same earlier to me also.. I have found a post at that time in the same forum which suggested to use 2 different forms and it worked for me.. here is the post fyr..

well it's good idea but wont work with this kind of application since the forum will be on top of every other windows...i tried to make inputbox but i faced with that issue the locker fourm get on the top of every thing exist or may exist so alt+tap wont be handy
so any more suggestion

Use the Form.TransparencyKey.Property for tha.

If there is really no choice, add multiple forms with no form design style set. (Simple control-colored square) with a single control added. Possible edges can be removed using the transparency key.
I have tried the same (screen selection while having an active background) but for some reason it fails over different operating systems.
On Windows 7 I could click my form, but in XP I clicked right through.
If the main form was moveable (and so were the controls added), add a separate moveable form with a LocationChanged handler.
