I had a visit...
to Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts.
I worked with artillery in the army... I thought our six inch shells were big... the USS Massachusetts fired 16" bullets weighing about 2700 pounds a piece. That's freaking massive. Here are a few pics of my journey...
This is me standing underneath one of the gun batteries. This one unit took over 120 men to run. As a point of reference, I'm standing directly underneath the end of the barrel. These things are huge...

Here's me next to one of the bullets that it fires. They can't be moved manually... it's all machines that move the things. at 2700 pounds apiece, and with 1300+ of them on the ship, any man would be worn out in no time. As another reference, I'm 5'10".

Here's a good view from the bow (front) of the ship. It shows the bridge, as well as the forward six guns. If I could have gotten further out, I would have posted a picture of the literally dozens of 40mm cannons bristling from the ship... it's unreal.

No, that's me. I'd prefer to have much longer hair and my contacts... but they have too much build up on them for me to wear. And my hair... well, it's not long..
