I have been suffering depression since about 2000! Some days are better than others particularly when I get to talk friends while having lunch or a coffee.
Play BroodWar.
Also....good anti-depressant here.
Frankly, I'm not sure that I have ever been in a state others would call depressed.
If you get angry, one way to loosen it is to start self counting from 1. Like, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... and after a handful of counts, your anger might get away.
But what would you do when you feel sad ? Any shortcuts to make one feel better ?
Don't suggest me alcohols or cigarettes!
I take the kayak out on the lake... or I go play with the dogs... in short, I try to change my environment... when all else fails though, a tub of ice cream helps from time to time.

That looks like a good idea. But I don't have a kayak. But maybe I could try paper boats as it is raining here, I could make use of the water around my home. Do not wish to play with the dog. If I do, I would be in hospital the next day. Icecream ? hmm... should try that..

Which one ? Red or blue ?
Depending on your location and legality of my suggestion in your location, smoke some weed.
I force my mind to concentrate on good things. Somethings in life comes easy, but others you have work hard to do. Sometime fighting "depression" can be that for many. The ultimate solution is to force your mind to concentrate on good things. It shows you have will which is much stronger than problems in life. These type of people become the best leaders in the world, because they fight to be strong no matter what comes their way.
God tells us to concentrate on good things ... this eliminates depression, sadness, anger, hatred, ...

I ask God for direction and purpose in my life when depression "tries" to get me. It may seem strange to many but praying to God and having "Faith" in Him works, no matter what anyone says. Things on this earth are very temporal. Money, friends, etc. comes-n-goes out of your life. People are looking for something stable and drugs, sex, etc simply is not it. True "Love" an "Truth" provides a foundation for issues human face ... life will teach us that over time.
Oddly enough, you might just try smiling. There was a study that I read about more than two decades back where some pychologists (Swedish variety, I believe) showed that the act of smiling causes people to feel better. Apparently the cause and effect relationship between the action and the feeling may be a bit confused.
Thanks all...
Hello,
i have ever been this kind of depression problems,i try to change my environment
I'd second that. In fact both states (happiness and depression) seem to be self-perpetuating. Come to think of it, that applies to boredom too. You know that feeling when you're bored so you start trying to think of things to do buteverything you can come up with just seems like too much hassle. So the answer for what you should do is actually quite simple: cheer up.Quote:

Come on now, play fair. Christianity's definitely iron age at the earliest. Now Judaism, that's bronze age. I consider your entire position invalidated by that minor slip.:p
I tried that once. He told me to take a left at the next intersection. It was a one-way street going the other way!!!! Doggone it God, quit using Apple iSuckMaps!
After the police let me go, he directed me to the House of Wong, and directed me to pick up his carry-out order. Boy were they pissy when I built an altar to sacrifice the offering in their parking lot. You never heard such complaining. And the sirens, too, my ears are still ringing. Fortunately, the police took pity on me and only used the taser twice. But that's all beside the point.
what about then, when people cheat others?
That's the trouble with deities, they're so damned unreliable. I lent him a tenner once and haven't seen him since.Quote:

Yeah, and we all know what they used to do with their cousins back in those days.Quote:
It may be more fair to say Christianity is Judaism's iron age cousin.
Genuinely depressed, or just feeling a bit down?
My trains are occasionally held up due to people who were genuinely depressed. If you're in that category, you should seek professional help as soon as possible.
If you're just feeling a bit down, put on a DVD of Father Ted.
Excersice has been shown to release endorphins which give you a sense of well being.
When i was younger if i was feeling down i would take my dog out for a run or go out on my Bike on to the Meadows (fields / green space near were i lived) and the exercise along with being around nature used to make me feel a whole lot calmer and better.
That may be some part of my solution, too.
Feels better. Thanks for all your ideas. :thumb:
BTW, feel free to share any shortcuts or secret mantras that you follow to get rid of depression.

If I'm to be serious here for a moment I'll say that sex is the ultimate anti-depressant. I shouldn't have to explain why :)
Does it rain there a lot? That might be part of the problem.
Why woul dyou be in the hospital if you played with your dog? Dogs are great. Talk about boosting your self-esteem. They simply love you and only require in return a treat or a belly rub.
Anyway, if you are consistently depressed, do go see a doctor. While I am not an advocate of anti-depressants that may only be because I am by nature a happy person. A friend of mine was so depressed she wanted to kill herself and told me she was just waiting for her mother to die first, because she didn't want to put her mother through that. But while she was waiting...she went to a doctor and got some help there. So if it is a serious problem treat it seriously and go to a professional who has the right training.
