What does rooting of Nexus7 means ?
I have seen that a person posted a picture of his new Nexus7 in Facebook and said that he had rooted it. So, what does the rooting helps the user ? I tried searching in Google to find out what this rooting is, but ended up in results showing "how to root.."!
Some says, it would "unlocks". So what is locked ?
Thanks in advance
Re: What does rooting of Nexus7 means ?
i rooted mine to delete crapware. rooting gives you administrator access to the device. on some devices this allows you to use it with a different carrier's sim card. or you can tether for wifi for free, change boot animation, etc.

I think he bought it from here: http://shopping.indiatimes.com/compu...0105/p_B977087
Might be shipped directly from US, so for using Indian SIM cards, it has to be rooted. Isn't it ?

I just talked to him some time ago. And he said, he did that for OTG functionality for accessing pendrives and portable hard disks.

you can enable usb host mode with android 4.0 and that's what he's doing. it will also allow external keyboards.

But why wouldn't Google allow it by default. Why they want us to hack it instead of providing such facilities by default? :)
