It is free - it is safe.

It does not load anything on your machine.

It only goes to a location on the web that shows a green image if you are in the clear - no DNS virus issues...

I am Green. Or was it greenish yellow ? I was recently playing with the color settings and is all messed up now :bigyello:

Green is good, Yellow is loading and then Red is very dangerous. I believe...

I heard of the malware and wasn't sure at first if the site was legit. Are Macs affected?

Should this thread be moved to General PC since it is actually useful rather than the usual stuff we talk about in Chit Chat? I scanned my laptop a few days ago and it was/is DNS Changer free. I will scan my pc after we have replaced the power supply and I'm able to use it again.

Well my guess as a computer programmer, I think that it is only centralised to the IBM PC and compatiable computers that are running a Windows 32-Bit based operating system...

I don't think that it exists, cause none of the machines we were sent to, had it. Also it's not a very strong virus, instead of the ciypher source code that existed or was talked about. Yes, I was given a SPAM link, which I removed from my machine totally. The known link to the source code. That must have been a troll, in deed doing that part of the hype of things, happening afew days, before...

you dont have to have malware installed for this problem. If your dns settings have been changed, removing malware won't fix them. My brother got our system infected once and i had to have spybot fix the dns settings.

Yes, there is a way to fix up the following DNS settings, by using a third party application program package, but then there is the one that I always do and then that is considered the best one by my means and that is the writing down the DNS settings, and then getting your ISP to remove the blocking factors. Thus you can then be able to use the ISP to help repatch them into the computer system machine, as per just getting them to refresh the DNS settings. I was also infected by a virus, which was called: Flame. I don't think that many people have heard of it, but then it was only for a government type of job, that we were going to do for our country, here in the great sun baked land of OZ...

it does but it is also capable of repairing some sytem problems caused by malware, such as hijacked dns settings, modified hosts file, etc. It also contains an "innoculate" function that blocks (using the same hosts file) many known malware pages and tracker sites.

Ah ok! I was unaware it did all that.

Another useful application is SpywareBlaster, don't know if you guys have heard of it. Sounds like it does something similar to the SpyBot inoculate function, where is sets up a blacklist of known sites that are virus/phishing/malware etc, and prevents your computer from accessing them.

There is a paid for version that does auto-updating, but there is a free one. It just means that you have to do the updating yourself.

Is there one for x86 32-Bit Windows XP SP3??? I can't see one. But then you are only talking about Windows 7.00, which is the x64 version, of the product. Can you please help direct me to the version of the product, that is right for me???
