IPO charts

I was wondering if programmers in the real world actually use IPO charts.
My style has always been to just dive in and start coding. Since the IPO charts are a part of my assignments, I find myself coding the program and then writing the chart based on the code which is entirely pointless. I asked the top programmer at my work and he had never heard of IPO charts.

I'm going to go ahead and take that as a "No, it's just some busy work Diane Zak invented to take up space in her textbooks"
