VS 2012 Built in Webforms security - Access or Sql Server?

I've been looking into the built in security that comes with a new webforms application in VS 2012. I noticed that it creates a .mdf file for you with all the tables and such to run the login screen and manage security. My dev lead, however, wants all the backend databases to be in Access - at least for development.

Is there a way to have VS create the backend security database in Access?

Any thoughts on this subject would be appreciated. Noobism going on here.

ASP.NET Presentation Layer, BLL, DAL

Greetings I am new to vb and asp but have just finished creating a website in visual web developer.

I have some presentation layer pages where the end user is to type in data into txtboxes and hit submit at the bottom to send the data into my database.

I have researched and seen that the use of BLL and DAL is the way to go for security purposes...using get/set to move the info from presentation layer to bll to dal and then to database.

Obviously my question is a bit ambiguous . but can somebody point me in the right direction... maybe letting me know what steps are needed to accomplish this... I have found a few examples in the msdn pages... but most are instructions to take data from the database and present it on the asp page... i just need to send the data from the asp page to the database.

i use gridview in listview and use listview.GroupItemCount ="3"

i see that when i not use gridvew then listview proper show item in 3 column

but when i use gridview then listview not show data in 3 column..

Hi,

My page was created with a multiview which has 3 views.

Now on one of the view I have a checkbox called chkpeer. So, when this checkbox is checked it triggers a submit button to be set to visible and active with the code below;

Now the problem is, when I check chkpeer - btnsub becomes visible set to TRUE. Then when I move to the next View without clicking the submit button then return to the view with chkpeer,

1) chkpeer is still ticked but disabled
2) btnsub visible is SET to FALSE.

I would prefer one of the following

Either have the chkpeer checked - enabled and btnSub still Visible (Ideally)
Or Chkpeer unchecked and enabled so that when I check it again it activates the btnSub ..

Hi,
I need a popup window to enable a user to edit rows of a gridview. This part is done and working. Now, i need to change this popup to contain a tabcontainer instead so that more options can be added. This, however i have had no luck getting to work. Have tried finding an example detailing how this can be done, but no luck. Any of you can point in the right direction?
Im using the ajaxtoolkit with SharePoint 2010 and asp.net 3.5

Hi,

I normally use the .Replace function in asp.net , which works fine, but this time I want it to be more strict.
The string I will be looking for will contain A-Z a-z 0-9 $ _
ex.
$EUROPE_FRANCE
$EUROPE_FRANCE_PARIS
...
There is no blank space between the words and it always start with a $ sign.

So my main issue with the .Replace function is , if I search for '$EUROPE_FRANCE' it will detect this twice '$EUROPE_FRANCE' and '$EUROPE_FRANCE_PARIS' . I have no clue about the regex syntax, but i read it's possible, so I was wondering if there is way to specify for regex to only search for exact match? Or even there is another function in asp.net that will allow me to do this.

I currently have an application I wrote for a company to manage their projects. We've developed it enough over time that it has become fairly useful for them, and other companies in their industry have expressed an interest in using it as well, so they are looking for ways to turn around and sell rights to use it. Then general approach we were looking at is for them to host the site, and then people who log into it obviously only have access to their own products and any features they want to purchase. WHich is obviously a bit of a change from a single company environment. One of the big features of the current system is that they currently can upload different CAD drawing, contracts, etc to the website. Right now I just use the web.config files to like the stuff down, make sure sensitive stuff is locked to the administrative level, shared stuff to administrators and users. I'm not really sure how I go about this from multiple company approach. I would tend to lean toward a public and secure folder for each company, but file permissions have to be set from the file system level (e.g. how do I create a folder automatically from the website and then give it read/write/delete access), and then how do I secure the files properly so that users from one company can't type in the URL to another company's folder and get access to their files. Any help on this would be great. Not really my area of expertise.

When I go to http://www.domain.com/ or http://www.domain.com it redirects to the following:

I can add new routes and they seem to work fine. It's just the base domain isn't loading properly. Any ideas?

VS 2008 Navigating records next/previous

Hi,

I have written a .net web application quite some time ago and now required some enhancement... but I'm now lost on how to do this :( So appreciate any insights from all of you here.

I have a page (page A) displaying a GridView of records from a SQL table. Upon clicking on a row, user will be lead to another page (page B) displaying the details of the selected record. From page A, I passed the value of a generated ID through querystring to page B, and based on this ID, the application will query the database to fetch all the values and display accordingly in a FormView. Page B will also allow user to edit and update the record.

How is it possible if I want to have the ability to navigate to next/previous record from Page B without having to go back to Page A again?

Include files within an Include file.

Hello,

I have just started with ASP.NET.

I like the idea of using Include files so that I can create various versions of individual parts of a site and decide in code which to display. I used:

<%Response.WriteFile("content\\content.aspx")%>

to include a content.aspx file within my default.aspx page.

I would like to include a Left.aspx, Main.aspx and Right.aspx file inside the content.aspx file. I tried using the reponse.writefile function but noticed when I debug the website that the text "reponse.writefile..." displays instead of the code contained within the referenced file(s).

Can this not be done? Or have I just made a mistake somewhere along the way.

VS 2012 Dynamically generated CompareValidator not working right.

I'm new to this asp.net stuff. My dev lead and I are both trying to learn how to do this. He built some pages and asked me to add the validation controls to them.

The first page has a series of text boxes with autopostback = true. I can put CompareValidators onto the form and assign them to the textboxes, and they seem to work right.

On my second page, however, the controls are being built on the server using vb code. The CompareValidators seem to work on the client side. On the server side, however, the CompareValidators always have an IsValid property = true, even when the value of the textbox clearly violates the conditions. I've checked all the properties I can think of and I can't see any difference between these dynamically generated validators and the static ones I have on the first page, so I'm thinking there must be something else going on.

Let me know if you need any more info or have any ideas.
