A Hardware Question

Long story but I'm trying to add a harddrive to another computer making it primary slave.
I added it with jumper settings set to slave and it was recognised in BIOS and on start-up as primary slave. But in Windows it wasn't being detected.I tried Control Panel-> Detect New Hardware
but nothing...

Was it partitioned and formatted?

Yep, it was a removable harddrive from another computer

How did you format the disk? low-level (from BIOS) or high-level(just removing files)?

You foolish little man. I'll try to remember how I solved this problem, when I did the same (although it was my only hard disk and I was trying to install DOS6.x & then Win3.11) ....BRB:)

Low-level formatting destroys a hard drive as it physically alters the disk. Hard drives are already low-level formatted in the factory.

i'm running win 98 s/e

and ric I think that your avatar is copyright Blink 182 and MCA as it appared as track number 6 on Take off your pants and jackets as track number 6...in case you wanted to know :)

and I might be lying when i said BIOS all i did was take the main harddrive from one computer and put it into the other making it the slave...
