Anyone ever had a file named "ldkbghnq.exe" in the Windows folder? It's a virus, I currently just replaced it with a empty exe I made...

Anyways, I'd like to know how to get rid of this virus, I think it's also hooked to some of my exe files..

I use AVG and it's caught everything I threw at it, including that new Sircam one - it got that before I know it was out, which is pretty good.

http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,4030,00.asp for Norton Antivirus 2001

And McAfee:

I own Norton Antivirus 2001. It is the easiest to use interface I have seen in an antivirus. And justify why it "runs weird."

McAffee SUCKS! Hotmail uses McAffee, and I got the SirCam virus(didn't get infected though) and hotmail didn't even detect it. IMO AVP, and Norton are the best.

it runs wierd is becasue everybody that I know that uses it said they have problems and I don't like the way it switches screens to scan and when it finds a virus. reminds to much like BSoD.
I have never had a problem with McAfee in the 4 years I have used it. like I said it is a personal opinion as others have not had a problem with norton.

it is like the ford and chevy thing, personal opinion.

Dennis maybe you got it because Microsoft didn't update there dat files. I am protected agains the SirCam virus, because I updated the dat files.

I've never had a problem with NORTON in *6* years, and it has caught dozens of viruses, worms, etc.

Don't forget to get a firewall like ZoneAlarm! (Don't start trashing ZoneAlarm, I have TONS of links for it)

ARH! :D The newest version is irritating as the tray icon blinks each time it protects you but then you can't see the all-important bandwidth meter.

ZoneAlarm is better than AtGuard... Mike told me that when you allow/disallow a program to do something, AtGuard only recognizes it by it's name; Another program could have the same name and do bad stuff. ZoneAlarm uses the contents of the program to decide whether or not to let it be...

I use AtGuard though, 'cause it's already installed and I'm waaaaaaaaaay too lazy to download and install ZoneAlarm.....

Yeah i agree with Scoutt!
Mcafee is great. Even better coz we get it for free. My boss knows some head honcho at mcafee.

The reason my work mate got sircam is becuase she didnt keep her virus files updated!

Also dennis it probably got through hotmail is maybe the same reason hotmail staff.
Or perhaps because it attaches itself to a file which is the attachment!!! So the virus aint the attachment really.

Once again, McAfee sucks. Didn't you read those links I posted? It even found a virus in a program I created when one didn't exist! That pissed me off, what would my users do when they download my proggie!?

ZoneAlarm is the best firewall software i have ever seen... i even have it setup so it acts like a Proxy for my Intraner @ home... very nice.

ZoneAlarm is free and it's great for home stuff, but if you want full protection you should get ZoneAlarm Pro for which you have to pay for, but there are ways to unlock it ;)

anyways,:D

it isn't just McAffe that finds virus from that kind of stuff. I just downloaded Winace, it is like winzip, and they said that it might trigger your virus scanner because of the compression they used in the exe. in order to have a good virus scanner you have to look at everything and suspect eveything.

True. I respect your opinion about McAfee if you respect mine about Norton. Deal?

Deal :D

that's cool, I always said it was a personal opinion. they can't be all that bad for staying in business all these years. I just don't like them.
