i am thinking of also doing a people to people file transfer program. what it does it search random ip addresses until it finds one also running this progarm, then it adds it to its database, and it also adds to the database the other persons database of ips. and then those ips have their database transfered into urs so that your database of ips grows exponanatially (i know i cant spell). it will have a set limit of 500 ips, you can also save your list of ips and go again for another different database of ips, so if one databse dont work when searching, you can also load up another to search again.. and when you put out a seach for a file, it sends a signal to all in ur current database and then their cumputer does the searching an not your computer. becasue it would be faster for 500 computers searching their own directories than 1 searchign through 500 directories. once this program is loose, it can never be stopped because there is no central server. also it would chat, and other nice things i cant think up now, somewhat like a napster with only the needed options, and no server to shut down

but one thing, i am not that good in internet programming and file transfer.. i need help, if you want too, please email me at ioi8@aol.com or post a reply

That would set everyone's firewalls off! If you're pinging each IP to see if it's running the program, it would be classed as a 'hack attempt' by most firewalls. Plus the majority of people's IPs are dynamic so they change every time you reconnect to the internet, so the list would get outdated in a matter of hours, I'm afraid.

Although it seems a good idea, it's impractical, and could frighten some users when their firewalls go bezerk saying there's someone hacking into their computer!
