Er, you're frighteningly accurate there I'm afraid.

The wife went out to the hairdressers last night and left me in charge of our daughter (approx 2 years old).

Between us we had pretty much managed to soak the bathroom during her bath (I though I'd liven up an otherwise dull experience by showing her how to use empty shampoo bottles to squirt each other with water), when the wife walks back in. I tried to pin the blame on Jemma, but she didn't buy it!:D We didn't hear her arrive home as the hi-fi was pumping out a Tina Turner concert DVD so loud that the floor was vibrating.

That's a hell of a lot of fun;) As soon as the water washes out into the hall you know it's time to quit.

Meet the missus at an Art Gallery during an exhibition. We both thought it was crap and got pissed on the supplied wine. (Before any one asks was setting up the gallery's accounting system).

I actually met my wife on Granchester Meadow - but it's a long story ;)
http://www.evenwood.demon.co.uk/images/cam_slce.jpg

Other things that I'd found successful include

Whisking young ladies away from dull parties. In the most dramatic version of this my friend Tom and I were chatting to two pretty stunning girls at a student party at about 2.30am when suddenly Tom leaps up and tells us that he has just remembered that he is supposed to be skippering a yacht (or something ) in some event in Newport, Wales at 6am Suddenly found ourselves all huddled together under blankets in Tom's old open sportcar in the middle of the night heading to Wales. Staggered out at dawn we found ourselves given a huge fried breakfast and being put in charge of the race 'rescue boat' (with the sum total of my knowledge of marine rescues coming from having watched Blue Peter - the girls seemed to know less). It did entail getting soaked to the skin and staying up for about 36 hours but the summary was "very satisfactory"

Chatting to a girl who give a mindboggling talk at a Cambridge Explorer's society (I think she had done something like taking 26 borstal boys in an Army lorry across Bolivia to reform them - the pictures show them completely shocked and overawed by the whole thing with her Lara Croft style directing them all around) - quite without intending it I ended up dating her.

Leaving the lab door open when I was a post-doc
and having a big Cona of coffee brewing to offer anyone interesting who looked in (very successful - need a good location and lots of mad-scientist kit for this to really work I guess)
