Well for all you vb lamers Jethro asked me to pass this on.

vb.net installs with no problems on a P166 configuration, apparently let it run throught the windoze updates, and then when you go back to the install options, select the second one and let er rip.

There is a bug in the install options which appears to want to keep installing the first option, but allows ya to go ahead with the actuall vb.net install. They are currently hammering it down south and have had no problems.

So if you must use this Microsoft stuff go ahead.
