same over here in the UK. It's a pretty much male dominated Market, but of the women developers I have met, they have been generally better than most males

Yeah, if you were female, they would invite you to the orgy.
Sorry, slow pitch.
I've only met one female programmer. I actually dated her, and asked her out before I knew what she did. We were talking about writing. Anyway... she was very much fun. She not only was an able programmer and working at IBM (the RedHat offer was after she had already said yes to the IBM offer), but she is president of the university LUG. 'Course, don't guess that is a surprise, she is more personable than 90% of the males in attendance, and she missed the meeting when they had the vote.
-- "Who should be president?"
-- "Who's not here?"
I've known a few women who are technical writers. One of them is a soprano who went to university to (go to conservatory to) be an opera singer. Yeah, that one baffles me, too.

Well, in a programming course that I took, out of 24 students, only 6 were male. I just met one of the girls recently, and she actually got a job, believe it or not

well, as i'm kinda young, (starting hs), more girls are interested in their hair than computers. The few that can do it well, i'm there helping them learn. I think it's cool for females to do programming,a typically "geeky male" (not saying i'm (or anyone else) is a geek) thing. In fact, i showed my mom how to make a game in vb. Everyone can bring in new ideas.

Macs are very easy to troubleshoot. You don't have to figure out when the problem occurred, since they come pre-crashed. (GO PC's!)

Most of the women I know are quite well developed.... er, sorry wrong question.
My wife's a programmer, so are her two best mates. I also have 6 or 7 other female friends in Ireland who are porgrammers and DBA's. Maybe I've just been lucky. Certainly there are more men doing IT , but from what I've seen there's also quite a lot of women as well (certainly more than in other Engineering/Technical professions).

A man walking along a California beach was deep in prayer. All of a sudden he said out loud, "Lord, grant me one wish."
Suddenly the sky clouded above his head and in a booming voice the Lord said, "Because you have had the faith to ask, I will grant you one wish."
The man said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii, so I can drive over anytime I want to."
The Lord said, "Your request is very materialistic. Think of the logistics of that kind of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of another wish, a wish you think would honor and glorify me."
The man thought about it for a long time. Finally he said, "Lord, I have been married and divorced four times. All of my wives said that I am uncaring and insensitive. I wish that I could understand women. I want to know how they feel inside, what they are thinking when they give me the silent treatment, why they cry, what they mean when they say 'nothing' and how I can make a woman truly happy?"
After a few minutes God said, "You want two lanes or four on that bridge?"

The mother-in-law stopped unexpectedly by the recently married couple's house. She rang the doorbell and stepped into the house. She saw her daughter-in-law standing naked by the door.
"What are you doing?" she asked."I'm waiting for my husband to come home from work." the daughter-in-law answered.
"But you're naked!" the mother-in-law exclaimed.
"This is my love dress" the daughter-in-law explained.
"Love dress? But you're naked!"
"My husband loves me to wear this dress! It makes him happy and it makes me happy. I would appreciate it if you would leave because he will be home from work any minute."
The mother-in-law was tired of all this romantic talk and left. On the way home she thought about the love dress. When she got home she got undressed, showered, put on her best perfume and waited by the front door.
Finally her husband came home. He walked in and saw her standing naked by the door. "What in the world are you doing?" he asked.
"This is my love dress," she replied.
"Needs ironing! What's for supper?"

A radical feminist is getting on a bus when, just in front of her,
a man gets up from his seat. She thinks to herself, "Here's another
man trying to keep up the customs of a patriarchal society by offering
a poor, defenseless woman his seat," and she pushes him back onto the
seat.
A few minutes later, the man tries to get up again. She is insulted
again and refuses to let him up. Finally, the man says, "Look, lady,
you've got to let me get up. I'm two miles past my stop already."

Man, the weirdest thing happened to me a while ago: there was this girl sitting right next to me in the computer, and I got excited when she started typing faster than me! Does that mean anything?

Anyway.... you guys are losers You like a girl 'cause she opens her mouth for five seconds.... *Dennis shakes head in disgust* Loooooooo-Seeeeeeeer *ahem*
*ahem* Ok, sorry for calling you a loser, but yer an effin' pervert... Is that all you think about? You don't like her for her personality, or just herself? You just like her 'cause she gives you a boner? Although I'm a big fan of dirty jokes, innuendo's and such, but that just makes me sick...
*ahem* again, sorry for that, it's just I can't stand it when people seriously say something like that..
Give him a break. He's only in 9th grade. His hormones are going crazy. You were born in 1986? You're probably the same way, but just don't show it (Note: My use of the word, "probably", means that I was only taking a guess).

Hey, I'm not that much older than you. I'm still a teen, myself. (only for another year, but still..) I suppose you do have a point about the hormones thing, tho. I did know you were kidding, but I somehow lost the concept once denniswrenn posted his message. It bothered me, because just about every person your age pretty much meets the definition of a pervert, whether or not they show it..

By the way, about treating you like a little kid, I was thinking about my post and I realized that I didn't mention that I know what you mean. I, too, wouldn't want to be treated like a little kid (and didn't want to 4 years ago).
