please Help!

in karl's tutorial, he says to test it in the same coputer use the address 127.0.0.1 but when i put it into my text box and click cthe command button nothing happens. yeah it just stays where it is. no sounds, no errors no nothing. please help me i am getting realy frustrated i really wanted to learn this thing but this thing does not work!please help anyway you can, mabe giving me your sample program, anything please

Yeah, we need more info. I can tell you to make sure TCP/IP is installed and working (ping 127.0.0.1).
