I think it's about that time again for the north of england VB-World sector to get lashed and find out if the people we talk to online are freaks or not.

Gary.Lowe

On my own again then?

Cruel Cruel World!

Arbiter
Jun 5th, 2001, 05:46 AM
Well, it goes without saying that I'm up for it.

I don't see why some Southerners can't come as well. They could get a cheap hotel room in the city for the night for about £30-40.

I reckon Behemoth will come for a few.

Come on Northerners, rally around the guiding beacon of....

BEER!!

Gary.Lowe
Jun 5th, 2001, 05:48 AM

Well get on the train/in the car/atop the camel and git yo arse down here.

In fact you can run it. Scots have to run that distance every day carrying a live goat - just to find fresh water!!

Anyone coming from Norway who can pick me up along the way? Or do I have to walk barefoot over red hot molten glass all the way there?

Anyone else?

I think we do the famous 'rainbow' from the top shelf. I think I'm going to need a hotel room in MCR, 'cos I don't think I'll be able to get home...

And, the benefit of a hotel is, it will have a bar so I can pop in for a quick nightcap.

Now all we need are some sexy women coming...

the only reason for a saturday, is that the way the project is going at the moment, there is no way I can get any time off work and i'll be dammed if I'm driving 300 miles straight after work on a friday night :)

Arbiter
Jun 6th, 2001, 04:05 AM
No problem pal.

I pity you having to drive 300 miles back darn sarf after a night on the town with some Northerners.

You'll either still be in casualty having your stomach pumped, or at the least about 212 times over the limit. You'd have to go back late evening on Sun.

Just tell the taxi driver that they ain't drunk and people normally talk like that in Cardiff, which should look lovely at 5.00am in the morning when they wake up.

Arbiter

Jethro,

Don't give them ideas!

I remember the last night out I had in Manchester, when I got in, I had a set of windscreen wipers in my jacket pocket. Hmmm....

Midlanders are more than welcome, as long as you don't have an atrocious Birmingham accent. You'll still be welcome, but expect us to laugh at you all night. :)

Time and Venue. Well, not sure yet. Manchester will be the venue I reckon (unless anyone fancies a night out in Oldham?), meeting place to be confirmed. 'When' is the flexible part. It needs to be a Saturday for the Sherry Drinker but beyond that any week will go. Some people have exams so are we thinking about 7-8 weeks away?

Gary.Lowe
Jun 7th, 2001, 04:57 AM
Doesn't the WalkAbout in the city centre have rooms for about £40.00 a night.

There's a bar and club included as well. There's also a happy hour from 5-7 where ALL drinks are two for the price of one.

Paul Warren
Jun 7th, 2001, 05:17 AM
There's also an Ibis hotel on Princess Street for £35 a night. It's about 5-10 minutes walk from Piccadilly when sober so adjust this time according to your pissedness.

The Ibis sounds like a good choice. You won't need anything fancy, 'cos you'd be too ******ed to notice anything in the room.

Gary,

I didn't know they put people up in the Walkabout? Or is that what they charge you if they find you asleep under one of the tables?

If my house is built by the time we have night out, then a clump of you can kip round at mine.

It's a few weeks off yet though.

I (will) live about 15 miles away from MCR so the cab fare will be a bit high, but won't seem so bad if there's a few in the cab. Certainly a hell of a let less than £60-70 though....

Paul Warren
Jun 7th, 2001, 05:57 AM
I'm pretty sure about those rates, the hotel has got a bloody big sign on the side of the building saying it's £35 per night so unless Saturday's are different or they're just plain lying then that must be right ( mustn't it ? ) Don't know the number though but I'm sure I could get it when I go to pick my car up later and post it on Tuesday when I'm back in work. Would do it over the weekend but I'm moving house.

"The youth of today ! Wasn't like that in my day, people had respect for others. We didn't go drinking in the streets - didn't have streets, just mud, mud for miles all around. Bored ? We didn't know what boredom was. Oh no, we got collera and TB and other interesting diseases ... Those were the days."

Imhotep - You seem to be lacking a sense of humour and I for one do not want to go for a drink with a miserable b*stard like you. Why not go to your local Conservative club instead ? I'm sure you'd fit in nicely.

It makes a good mouthwash. Gets rid of the stench of rotting flesh fairly well.

Also helps produce those flies that I can belch.

Have you ever seen that trick - goes down well in pubs!

What's happening then. You get me all exited about having to drive 300 miles back up to the dark and gloomy land that is known as Manchester  and What happens, it all goes dead.

We all still up for this or not ?. Ok we have the walking wounded at the moment, but in a couple of weeks he will fine again and If there is enough of us I am more than happy to make the journey.

Yah, I’m back in Bucks again, though it looks like I will have to go to London for a while for the project I am working on.

Nope Gary, I have not lost the sarcasm, if anything it has been honed to a more cynical edge by the damn lecturers.
