Yes. Amnesty International have been trying for years to get the practice stopped.
No-one I know in Britain (non-Jewish) has been circumcised.

I had no idea....I thought it was always done...never seen an uncircumsized person before.

Yeah it was quite a shock to us to find that Americans are routinely circumcised. Ali was watching 'sex in the city' (some chick show), and this girl was raving about how she slept with an un-circumcised man, and Ali was getting confused thinking maybe she meant circumcised and thats when we looked it up on the web. It freaked me out I can say.

I love Sex and the City.....great show!
I guess I'm going to have to find out what an un-circumsized person looks like one of these days.

The Jews originally did it for health reasons, but some other people just feel they want their kids to have it done. Dunno why...seems a bit of a waste, I mean, you spend 9 months putting the finishing touches to your tool and then the doctor cuts bits off! Heresy!

Psychologic reasons maybe? Some one said it to me once, but I didn't know if I should agree or not. I've always seen myself circumsized, so I'm not in a good position to make judgements about that.
The health reasons are more convincent. You say what you say, however do you think everyone has the same hygiene? Beeing circumsized makes less probable "something" to happen like a disease or a cancer.
Besides, (*looks in the dictionary but doens't find it*) the "head" gets more resistant by beeing uncovered, I think.

It seems that in the olden days they did it because they didn't want stuff getting stuck under the extra skin so they cut it off.
Not totally sure about that though.

Just remembered this one: those who have a short thing need to cut the skin off too. (obvious...)

I wouldn't say "deteriorate". Instead, I prefer "turn out to be educative".

Well I've just consulted the bumper baby medical book that we have, and they say that there was a belief that circumcision kept disease away from the ***** head, but this has long since been disproved. So there are no medical grounds for doing it any more.
Quite the opposite infact, they quote a number of cases where children have died from the shock or from infection. Hence the reason for Amnesty Internation and other human rights groups trying to get it banned in America for non-religeous purposes.
