Help with images!

I got a problem with a low quality game im making. Im quite new to VB, a month or so..

I got an image of a car.. up ahead is a tree.. What to I write to prevent the car from driving over or under the tree and instead stops while contact with that image?

You have to keep track of the X and Y positions of the images: always calculating!!!
