Most Difficult aspect of Game...
I am about to finish my first game and I am wondering what everyone thinks the most Difficult Part of Game Programming for Beginers is. The choices are
Movement
Collision Detection
Graphics
Other
IF you choose other then could you specify what the other is?

I think AI is the hardest. It's (you think anyway) easy to code, but you need to iron out all the bugs! Even worse in 3D games!!

I'd have to disagree I'm afraid
I find graphics, and the maths relating to getting the bits and pieces where you want them the hardest part.

I think the framework is the hardest. Well, maybe not the hardest, but the most time consuming. Getting the balance between the speed of the game, the functionality you want and development time is the hardest.

I agree with Plenderj
The maths has got to be the hardest part of any game, as there is infinte number of equations that you can use, to make it sumlate reality more. These include Collision Detection, lighting & shadows ect...

I think it is the AI.
I never got the AI done in any of my games except stupid stuff as in Tic Tac Toe (did that in QBasic looong time ago) and Pong. The math seems pretty easy to me compared to intelligence, because there is a right solution. Not something that could be ok. If anyone want's to help me with learning some AI for games please give me some good links!

I think that getting everything to run at a reasonable speed is a challange. Determining which features to feature, and which to trash, is hard. You can learn D3D, or DDraw, and Microsoft has generously supplied the D3DX library which contains hundreds of math functions. I would put forth User Interface and control as probably the hardest part of game programming. Ever tried to create a textbox control from scratch? A window?
Another hard part ive noticed, as well, is finding an artist =).

You don't really need an artist do you? If you're using 3D graphics, you're always able to learn how to model and sculpture in programs like 3Ds MAX.
BTW, does anyone here know about a nice tutorial which explains a lot about using Direct3D in VB? The hardest thing I think is to understand all the codes. That's why I need the explanation thing.

Modelling is easy. You still need a texture artist to make the models look decent though.

I agree with that one. I still can't sleep because of those
Never really tried AI, but maths is the second option, especially since I'm not that good at math...
