Finally got it! Damn twips!!!
I found this definition by accident, thought you might want to know where this stupid unit comes from:

Twips are [color]EVIL[/color]!!! ...or at least they should have taken vbPixel as default unit - as everyone does!

It happens that some machines have different font settings, i'm not entirely sure where you can change it, (in fact not at all) but i had some weird graphics problems with some vb3 applications which were assigned twips on a portable comp, although the displayed font was aligned correctly.
Use  
writing software in C++ is like driving rivets into steel beam with a toothpick.
writing haskell makes your life easier:
reverse (p (6*9)) where p x|x==0=""|True=chr (48+z): p y where (y,z)=divMod x 13
To throw away OOP for low level languages is myopia, to keep OOP is hyperopia. To throw away OOP for a high level language is insight.
