Could anyone recommend a good Java development product. I need to start developing applets that allow database connections, etc.

JBuilder 4 is pretty decent..
As IDEs go, Java IDEs are not very mature. So don't expect the same bells and whistles you get in MS IDEs.

JBuilder Foundation is pretty good, although since it's written in Java it's a tad slow and needs lots of memory. Once it's running it's fine though.
PS: It's free :)

The PC I have it on here (my dad's) has 128mb and it just about copes, although it falls over with JB, Rose, and Java2 Enterprise all going at the same time ;)

I use forte for java CE. Its free and it works, I hope you have >128MB of ram though

I have heard that that is more of a ram hog than JBuilder 4! :eek:
