    What is the Winsock Control used for?

    Can you use it to directly send e-mails from within an application without opening outlook?

    Making direct TCP and UDP connections.

    Can you use it to directly send e-mails from within an application without opening outlook?
    Yes, use it to connect to and communicate with a SMTP server.
