The basic ones are command.com, io.sys, msdos.sys, autoexec.bat, config.sys but your system may require some different ones aswell, The easiest way is to create a boot disk and then burn the files to a CD.

AFAIK, you can't just put files on the cd-rom, you'll need to use the 'Bootable CD-rom' option of you cd burning program. The CD-rom will be treated as the floppy drive once it is booted (ever booted the Windows CD, noticed the 'A:\' prompt and the 1.4 Meg limit, and the fact that you can't find the files used for booting up once you search the cd-rom normally?). If you want to use the CD-rom you'll need to boot with some CD drivers, like the Win98 cd does (don't know about ME or 2K, never tried it)...

I get messages (when booting up) saying looking for start up files on A:\, C:\, D:\, E:\. or did I see something about changeing the order in the BIOS. Do you think that I still need the drivers if I get that options??

Don't know, never really tried it, but I don't think my BIOS supports booting from CD like that (it's an old P133, but it does support booting from CDrom)...

I've found out how to make a bood up cd, it made me make a bood up disk, than with my software, I choose boot up cd, and it told me to put in my boot up disk, and everything seems good, but I never did made it yet, have to look for a blank cd.
