    Flash Forum

I was wondering what people thought about the possibility of a Flash forum on VB forums? I know that there are other Flash forums about (www.flashkit.com and www.actionscripts.com).

    Sorry to but in...
Depending on what you want to create and what format you want to export it in, Flash is very flexible. The interface is more userfriendly too.

My experiences have been with Flash 5 and Director 8

Which would you suggest, right now i'm just going on price, would it be worth the extra money to go for Director 8? My only concern is that we are a growing company and i don't want to get stuck down the road with a tool that is somewhat limited, at the same time i don't want to overspend on something that is more than we need...

Subcontracting would be an extremely flexible way to go about things, and I wouldn't worry about Flash's obsolescence, it's a newer product and designed specifically for the web:
BTW what does your company actually do?

Flash is probably your best bet (bear in mind that I have very little director experience), Flash is web specific, and can export as numerous file types, including animated gif. Director has more flexible export options, including Java applets and AVIs.

Depends entirely on what you want it for...

Personally I feel that it depends on what you are trying to do with it... I personally find Flash much easier to use than Director only because I am still learning Director... But other than that they both have their own uses!

a flash forum would be great, i have tried to learn flash several times but i find it difficult to get to grips with i now have flash 5 and i am still none the wiser

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

    Merlin,

Now I assume you are quite a bright person (having talked to you on many occasions).. Here is my suggestion for how to learn Flash... Buy the Visual Quickstart guide to Flash 5 (I did for Flash 4).. Its a piece of piss! You will know the basics of Flash within a week!

The help for Flash is useful too...

So what do you think John / James?

I picked up flash in a month or two, not hard at all. I would go with flash. Flash is easier to use, and very powerfull. I haven't had much time to play around with Director yet, so i dont know too much about that. Also, flash is a great image design program. I use it to make most of my images, and graphics.

I am still learning Director and it is very hard, though it is very good because they make wicked Interactive CD Roms if that is what you want to do..

Though I would really like a Flash and Director Forum on here.. I think that it would be good.
