Does anyone think the actual owner of http://www.vb.net/ is a little pissed at this new fangled MS thing. Maybe he should offer to sell it to them...make a tidy sum.

adamcox

I think he would be very pissed off at them. He could sell it to them, but wouldn't they be able to force him to give it up if they like get a trademark on it, or does VB.NET actually stand for Visual Basic .NET and everyone's abbreviating it? Either way... he'll probably be forced to give it up one way or the other

He's a dutch guy by the looks of it and it is Visual Business NETwork.

They could only force him to give it up if he didn't have a credible reason for needing it, and they were bothered enough to want it. Although that is unlikely because he is in the netherlands, so the US courts can go whistle basically. And it looks as though he is making use of it and does have a reason for having it.

Yes, I know where the Channel Islands are! Which one are we talking? Bergerac's favourite Jersey? Guernsey? Alderney?

He has a reason - excellent!! I hadn't actually had a look at it.

And no, we are not talking about Bergerac's favourite, Jersey, we are talking about the much better one, Guernsey. (Although sometimes it doesn't feel that great!)

I like Sark :)

adamcox

Hmm... Sark... Very small... not many people... no nice beaches... no nice places to eat/drink... why would you like it?

chrisjk

Sark...full of sarcastic people.

Sorry, that was absolutely terrible and you do have permission to insult me.

Oh, sorry, time up. No more insluts.

Hmmmm ;)

I like Sark because it's small :) And there's nothing to do, so if you go on holiday there you can get away with wandering around totally randomly, without worrying about being run over (except by a tractor ) ;)

adamcox

Well, I must agree and disagree on some points.
1. Its small - Agree, theres simply no argument against that
2. You can get away with wandering around randomly - Agree
3. You can only get run over with a tractor - WRONG!!! There are some lunatic bike riders over there... I've been one of them!

But one question begs to be answered... why would anyone want to go there anyway for a holiday! I hope you didn't mean for like a week or two... I get bored after about 2 hours over there!!! Herm maybe not so.. a bit more interesting - and beaches.

and tescos:confused:

adamcox
Apr 26th, 2001, 04:48 PM
Well they do have the Internet & TV at least (I think??) although the rest I would have to agree they don't have. But I've never been to a Tescos in my humble 16 years of life. I'm quite happy using a smaller chain that provides for all my needs. Having said that, having never been to Tesco may also mean I am missing out on something?

parksie

/me goes to Tesco every saturday...we even have a Clubcard Plus as well ;)

barrk
Apr 26th, 2001, 04:51 PM

adamcox
Apr 26th, 2001, 04:53 PM
parksie, why did you say "me goes..." and then "we even have..."? Isn't that a contradiction in terms?:)

And also, whats a "Clubcard Plus" is that like safeways ABC card?

chrisjk

Tesco = Britain's largest supermarket chain. Also the largest on-line grocer in the world.

parksie
Apr 26th, 2001, 04:55 PM
Nope. I go every saturday, but we (as a family) have a clubcard :)

The clubcard is like the ABC card, but clubcard plus is one where you have a monetary account on it so you pay with it as well, and it gives good interest :)

adamcox

Right... that makes sense now.
I never go shopping at Safeways if I can get away with it... neither does any of my family.. as its the only "supermarket" in Guernsey, its always packed (and I mean always!)
