Anyone know where to get VB for DOS? I'm not even convinved it exists, but I've heard it mentioned a few times...

I looked on MS's site but couldn't find anything less than VB3 for Win3.X

While I'm at it, what about VB for the Mac? I've used REALbasic a bit, but it's just not the same...never really liked Macs anyhow!!

So, er yeah, VB for DOS & Mac? Any ideas?

Visual Basic requires Microsoft Windows. There is no compatibilty for DOS or Macintosh. But I am guessing that there could be a way to manipulate a FULL SCREEN form to appear like DOS. That's about all I can think of. If you want to program for Mac. Use the C++ or One Easy Click Languages.

I've tried VB1 to VB5 and the only VB for DOS is VB1, but it really sucks...

Before the Windows®, there was Qbasic (not G :); it's for DOS programming. It's so much different, because ur working with a different OS.
It's only 3/8MB big :)
I got the full version which compiles. Its good for the simple programs. Somethings are harder to do in QB(QBasic)then VB, and then it's sometimes the other way around =]

Look at this site:

www.strgame.com/appz.html (http://www.strgame.com/appz.html)

They have a thing called VB 1.0, although I don't know wether it's for DOS or Windows.

Hey, I KNOW this is a warezz site, please don't blame me, I guess VB 1.0 is so old it could pretty well be freeware!

3.0 and previous versions of VB had a version available for DOS.

Hi !

Believe it or not but many years earlier there was indeed a VB for Dos. It was called GBasic (can't really remember but I think that was the name).

You will maybe get it from some very *dark* ftp-servers, maybe.

Why do you want it ? For DOS-Apps use Pascal or C, but not VB...

Bye,

Björn

Once, in the public library, I went looking for VB books, and found a VB for DOS, with a Floppy Disk even, but I never checked it out. I think it does exist, though.

there most definately was a Visual Basic 1.0 for MS-DOS; I have not seen it in a very, very long time though.
And no, it was not QBasic, QuickBasic, GWBasic, etc.
