Right click file> rename> then delete ".txt"
Select file> "F2" > delete ".txt"
Goto explorer > select file> Goto File >Rename > delete ".txt"
and so on.........

no offence, but your a c++ and vb programmer but you dont know how to change a file extension in windows?
Anyway, (ill use dos coz doing it in windows depends on your options) open up a dos promt. Type
rename C:\windows\desktop\cheeso~1.txt cheeso~1.exe
(replace c:\windows\desktop with the location of the file)press enter

Goto folder options -> View -> uncheck 'hide file extensions for known types' then try renaming.

i didt say this method coz this wont work if he has the setting to hide the extentions of known file types which he probably has coz i think its default.
