I have Heroes of Might and Magic 1 on my computer. Since I have been learning Visual Basic for a while, I have been trying to do a few different simple programs. I've wanted for a while to try programming a complete save-game editor for HOMM. Can anyone give me any suggestions in the following areas?

1. loading a file so certain parts can be edited

2. searching for specific numbers and offsets in the file
(I have a list I printed from a website someplace with all the file offsest for HOMM1)

3. Use a single form multiple times for all the different characters.
