Ligatures On Windows Mobile 6.5
Not strictly a chit chat question, but I hope I shall get more info here.
I can type in an Indian language using Google's IME and on my desktop or laptop running Win XP there's no problem at all. I have even designed a custom keyboard layout for my mothertongue and that too works great.
Now my Windows Mobile 6.5 claims to support unicode, so I copied the Arial Unicode font onto it. Then I copied one of the word files to it and tried opening it on the phone. It now shows me the text, but the ligatures (where two or more characters are joined together) do not render correctly.
If I export the file to PDF (using a PDF Printer app) and then copy the generated PDF to the Win Mobo, the PDF renders the ligatures correctly.
To give an example:
ह्या which is a combination of h + ya is rendered as ह् या (without the space, but still two distinct characters) on the mobile.
Does anyone know any solution for this?
