    Question

Can anyone help me understand whats going on here?

I have the Beta1 ,NET CD's and have been trying to load on my Win98 machine for about 2 weeks. I've loaded the components CD1 stuff as prompted, but the main load of .NET keeps hanging.

The CD and the HD are both spinning at full speed but nothing seems to be happening. Sometimes I get the blue screen fatal error and open/close the CD door, sometimes this progresses the load a bit more, sometimes not. I then get another setup starting......

I recon its transferred at most 20% (looking at the progress bar). How can I get this thing onto my machine?

I've plenty space, RAM and power - is it the OS?

You can run VS.NET on 98 but you will not be able to work locally. You will need to install the component update & framework on a Win2000 or NT4 box to serve as a web server.

If you want to develop locally, that is without a separate server, you will need Win2000 or NT4.

I got my .Net cds 3 days ago and got it all installed in about 1 hour on win98, but it didn't work it kept hanging so i got some more RAM (i know have 256 did have 128) and it started to work fine.
Another thing it didn't like was the fact that i did not have PWS so i installed it and then everything worked.
