Problems installing VB6 on my Windows 7 Laptop.

It tried to install VB6 on my laptop (Windows 7). I thought because I had Visual Studio 2008 on my laptop that it was a problem. I uninstalled Visual Studio 2008 and tried to install VB6 and I am still getting this same message. The program is letting me continue with the installation but am I going to be facing problems down the road later on when I try to run data program in VB6?

Has anyone seen this message before on their Windows 7 machine. I did a check and VB6 is compatible with Windows 7. Thanks for any help!

That dialog is expected. You can safely ignore it.

The most important thing is to be sure you run both phases of the installation elevated. Peole sometimes make a dummy MS Java DLL to avoid a warning about that too but I have never found that to be necessary.

Once installed though you should at least mark VB6.EXE so that it disables Aero ("desktop composition")when run and runs elevated ("as admin"). Even better apply an elevation manifest to it so that Windows doesn't try to apply other legacy appcompat shims to it.
