    winsock controls

    hey guys, im just about to get into the winsock controls on visual studio 2010 using visual basic however i don't really know much about networks, where can a noobie like me go to learn the basics or is there any good references to learning how to use the winsock controls on vb without having to take an entire course on networking? i found some tutorials on youtube but it just says what to do it doesnt explain how it works for more generic use, i need something that can explain the proerties and functions involved. Plz help, need a good reference

    The Winsock component is outdated in .NET, go to MSDN and search for the TcpClient, TcpLister and/or UdpClient classes.
