He has been accepted to the California Institue of Performing Arts....it's very hard to pass the audition so he obviously has the talent necessary or they wouldn't have accepted him.....he has an entire year's worth of financing available to him from an inheritence so even though it's expensive, money isn't a problem....all he need to do is fill out some stupid forms to complete the enrollment and he hasn't done it.......he says he thinks he might want to work instead of going to college......he's never, ever had a job except for playing the piano at the community theatre three nights a week....he thinks he will just live at home and keep doing that for the rest of his life he's nuts!
It's his life and he can do what he wants but we can't support him forever....he's been out of school for almost a year already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess once he actually faces the world of work for a few months college is going to look a whole lot better and he will still have the money for the California Institue of Performing Arts next year

Katie repeat after me
The evil thoughts out, the good thoughts in
The evil thoughts out, the good thoughts in.
Hey l took a year out between School and Uni to work. Was sick to death of studing....that lasted three months then l went to the University for six years.
Everyones job is boring....at times anyway. Next couple of days have to go through a few thousand lines of COBOL code to determine where a company lost $20 bucks from their balance sheet.

Thanks guys...I'm feeling better now. He just called me right before I posted that and I was ready to rip him up....he really is just a confused kid. I was just a little more together at 18 than he is and it frustrates me sometimes.
All that work for a missing $20....you would think they could figure out that your time is worth five times that and just write it off!

It's an Accountant thing katie
Doesn't matter if they spend a couple of k resolving the issue, it still offends their little calculator clutching fingers to think that the Balance Sheet is out.
Dennis
Hmmmm....thanks.....do tell us where you are going to Uni, will immediatly complete my Instructors certificate and get a job teaching in their IT department. Ah yes, the glories of giving first year IT students major assignments in mapping completely irrelevant data.

It's not the 'artistic temperament' that he is suffering from is it? We have a few of those scattered around our family - great with musical instruments or sculpture or whatever but just a *bit* frustrating to get specific tasks out of at specific times
