Earn money with your own apps?

As the title says, Has any of you ever earned money with their apps?
Maybe you are the maker of a famous program or anything?

I was just questioning, since im pretty good at vb6 now i was thinking if their was some money to make from programs i made , depending on the program ofcourse, i want to see how much it can earn you and how much others ALREADY have earned from it, doesnt matter what programming language.

Please tell me how much you have earned where you sold whats a good market to look in etc, just asking :D

If you want to earn money programming, there are websites that can help you find freelance jobs (like RentACoder and elance). If you want to sell the ones you made, you can set up an account on sites like eSellerate and they handle all payment processing and even have affiliate programs so others can sell your software too (for a % commision that you set). To promote yourself you can also submit your software (trial/shareware versions) on sites like download.com, tucows etc.
