Suggesstion: Header tag in Games Forum
We could use a header-tag selector for the Games Programming forum to specify between VB6, VB.NET, or N/A. A lot of threads get moved there with no info on where it came from or what language the OP is using.
It seems my first response is always asking "what language are you using?" because while I can help out with .NET problems; typically by showing posters how to take advantage of things like XNA; that doesn't work for VB6.

However, even if there were those tags like in the office development, .NET, etc sections it who still require the original post to select it from a list and you can't be sure that the person is going take the time and make the thread properly.

Yea, but it's better than nothing. If I were writing the forum code, I'd require info tags on new threads.

Re: Suggesstion: Header tag in Games Forum
The header tags aren't apt for many forums (such as Database Development), but I can see that it would be useful in the Games+Graphics forum.
The main issue is what the options would be... the ones that spring to mind are:
- VB6 and earlier
- VB 2002 and later
- C#
...do you think these are wrong in some way, and/or there should be more?
A lot of threads get moved there with no info on where it came from or what language the OP is using.
Oops... I just checked the thread I moved there yesterday, and it seems that (unlike most of the moves I do) I forgot to mention it.

No, that would cover the main bases that you'll see on here. Splitting hairs with VB2005, 2008, etc isn't that big a deal for that forum.
On the post-move thing. Is there an automatic message a thread move posts? Perhaps you could patch in the originating forum it was moved from into that.

I assumed as much, and it's nice to see the assumption was apt!
I guess now we just wait for an Admin to decide and/or implement it.

It is entirely manual I'm afraid... I personally have a browser addin that helps (so I have "VB6 to Database" etc), but there are too many to/from combinations to make a full list of the possibilities.

Re: Suggesstion: Header tag in Games Forum
Unfortunately it wouldn't help. The prefix can only be adjusted/added during thread creation, and if a user has created the thread in the VB 6 forum for example, they probably wouldn't see the need for a language designation. Therefore after it was moved it still wouldn't have one.

That is the case for threads which are moved, but they would still be useful which are originally created in that forum - many of which don't mention the language.
