Hey!

I'm planning to buy a DVD-Rom drive. I found a good deal. A Hitachi 8x DVD-Rom drive for about 70 bucks. It is good? Can it reads videos? What do you guys think?

I have a DVD Rom but not the Hitachi. they can read movies and in some cases give you extra features only available through the DVD Rom. As for if there are any problems with Hitachi, I don't believe so, it is best to buy one with a warrantee (I think that I spelt that right)in case the thing goes wrong.

You can get a Pioneer 16xDVD 40xCD for $93... I've a friend who has one, and he says it works good.

All right thanks, I'll take a look to that pionner drive.

Another [[[Stupid]]] Question. I never saw a DVD-Rom reading a DVD Movie. Does it goes fast like a standard video tape or it goes slow?

Will it go fast on my computer?

It's almost exactly like a CD loading... The auto-run and everything... About that speed too.

I didn't see the last part. I've got a PII 350MHz, 96MB SDRAM, 8gig IDE, ATI RAGE TURBO AGP 2x(8MB). The movies work quite nicely. I recently got a newer DVD(Gladiator), It was very slow and skippy, but I think it's my DVD-ROM that's too slow(4x).
