Hello.

I am trying to save a vs2008 vb project under another name and, so obviously, another folder as well. Unfortunately, vb.net does not allow any "Save as" capability (which is weird in itself). So I assumed that exporting my project as a user template would work. I am new to templates so I must be missing something here, but here are the problems I am having under Windows 7:
1. vb will only let me save the template to a predetermined folder, "root:\Users\<my admin account folder>\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\My Exported Templates\".

2. Since it is all wrapped up in a zip file, I assume this needs to be extracted. But no matter where I put the zip file (and its extracted contents), vb cannot see them when I start a new project; there is nothing in the "My Template"s category.

3. If I set up a default location for user templates on another drive and put the extracted files in there (along with the original zip), this does not work either.

So I am having zero luck getting vb to recognize either the zip or its extracted contents. Also, even though I call the template something else, there are files in the zip that still retain the old program name. This just seems so overly-complicated. Why can't MS just provide a "Save Project As" option and be done with it? That way, it would be smart enough to rename the appropriate files, the solutions, etc., etc.

Thanks for any donational advice to the Dodo today!
