I've posted this kind of therad before, but...
I am so confused as to what to make out of myself!!!
I like to progam a lot! First I started out with VB, but more and more I see everyone wants C++! And so I tried out with C++ but it's like this Alien Language to me... a lot of people say it's not that hard, but it is at least for me...
But wait, it's get's better! Also another thing I really want to do is 3D computer gfx! I really want to do this but I know I can get better $$ with programming!
In conclusion, I have no idea what to do!!!
I have an option to go to this school next year where they teach C++ but I'm trying ot figure out if I should go or not!

Who ever told you C++ is easy, is either a liar or really smart.
Here is some advice I found along the way:
The hardest part for me was to stop thinking in VB so much, and try to convert my thinking to C++. Once I did that it got a lot easier for me.
Dont expect to be doing anything cool right of the bat. I would say I was really good in VB. But it took me about three hours to get a simple program to print HI on the console. That will humble you real fast. It took me a couple months before I could do Windows Apps.
If you want to learn C++ then here what I did, but bottom line is do what is best for you, ie how you learn the best.
I bought a bunch of books. I have prob 5 or 6 C++ books and I only use like 2 of them anymore. The best one, and the one I would get first is, Beginning Visual C++ by Ivor Horton. That is hands down the best C++ book I have ever bought.
I got a bunch of sample programs. Every time I wanted to do something in a program, I would try to find a another program that would have examples of what I wanted to do in it. Parksie has a great sample program for doing WinApps when you get to that point.
I also asked a bunch of questions on this form and the Codeguru's form.
Like I said, dont expect to be doing Win Apps right off the bat. Start simple and work up.

I HATE MSDN with .NET & .NET 2003!!!

VB to C++ ???
Plan for a Steep Learning Curve (almost 90 Degrees !)
I am also planning to learn C++....But not directly from
VB. I learnt C first ...did the dos stuff (Without ever thinking about windows) and I am Slowly learning to program Windows from C. Though C++ is better for
Windows Programming...I realize.
