Give me your point of view

Hey guys, someone called me they offering me a part time job regrading making a program.

Tomorrow were going to discuss about the project.

Now can you give me your point of view, suggestions on how to impress them so they can give me the job.

If they ask you a question and you don't know the answer, don't lie unless you are very, very good at lying. If they know the answer and know you are lying, odds are they will never call you again. It is almost always better to say that you don't know but can gain that knowledge very easily and quickly.

Be confident in your expertise. Don't take on a job that you cannot do.

Commonsense: dress appropriately, speak clearly, make eye contact with those you are talking to, do not arrive late.

You didn't really give us much to go on, so I will mention a few things to watch out for, too:

Some of these 'part-time' programming jobs can turn into things that neither you nor the employer has expected. Some people see a piece of software on the shelf that costs $500-$1000, and thinks that they can just hire somebody to toss together the same thing for less than that. They are totally wrong! Always! There are advantages to having somebody write software for you, such as the abiltiy to customize it to fit specific situations, or creating something that doesn't currently exist, but cost savings for any significant piece of software is not one of them. Therefore, you should make sure that both you and your potential employer, have a clear and reasonable set of expectations from the relationship. There should be goals and deadlines, but there should also be a clear path for changes, modifications, support, and so forth. If there is no consideration of that up front, it is unlikely to be handled smoothly later on.

Only impress them if you can handle the job.
And only accept the job if you are sure you can handle it.

The only way to get into it, would be to practice, practice practice!

Reading up a good book can also help.
