Not trying to be picky here, but isn't there a separate database section for database-related questions?

But there's always tons of database questions in the Visual Basic 6 and Earlier section.

There are indeed, and similar applies to threads that should be in Office Development, Games and Graphics, VB.Net, etc.

Unfortunately this is just one of the quirks of forums - no matter how well worded the forum titles/descriptions/etc are, many people will not bother to read them, and just go for whatever button is under their mouse at the time.

When moderators find threads in the wrong place we generally move them to their correct home, but there are some we don't notice.

You can make that process faster (and more accurate) by letting us know if you spot a thread in the wrong place (or any other issue you think we should be aware of) by clicking on the "Report post" icon (http://www.vbforums.com/images/buttons/report.gif) at the left of the post. That sends a message to the moderator(s) assigned to the forum, and leaves a note for the rest of us - so whoever is online first can deal with it.

That is because some forum members are too lazy and don't read the descriptions underneath each sub-forum.

I won't even begin to count the number of times something has had to be moved out of the codebank....

-tgTell me about it....

I would like to add my own personal request that all forum members follow si_the_geeks advice here.

Believe me.... I've been using that... a lot.... and that's just this morning... I'm sure the admins are getting tired of seeing reports from me.... ;)

I've noticed you've had a bit of a day of it!

...but just like Hack (and most/all of the other moderators), I'm glad that you and others do it, as it means a little less effort for us and/or a more 'tidy' site.

Hey,

The only thing that I would add is that the Report Post link isn't very intuitive, which might put some people off doing it. The wording suggests that it is only for abusive or spam posts. Is it possible to have that wording changed?

That is a good idea, but I don't know if it is possible - hopefully Joe will answer that.

It's not a big deal, now that I know to use it for this purpose, I don't even read the text, but I can imagine that some people may well be put off by it, once they actually click in the link.

Yes it doesnt appear to be worded for reporting threads in the wrong forum etc.

Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

Perhaps a simple phrase update could be done.
This is the exact phrase used - only_used_to_report

Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

Could be updated to...
Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, threads posted in incorrect forums, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

Since its a phrase it would be isolated from future forum ugrades. :)
