I just thought I'd say I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing the relatives of the GNER InterCity train driver and 12 or so passengers that died today the best for the future.

May the railways become safe once more.

yes, and the 30 or so seriously injured people.

However, for once it was't really the railways fault, a land rover land on the track.

Yeah...how did they manage to get off the motorway? They were towing another car or something is what I heard

ya something like that but i still dont understand quite how a land rover managed to go over the edge. I suppose either the driver must have been really ragging it or the bridge must of been rubbish.

There apperntly was a 1 in 64 million chance of it happening. On the bridge there was a gap in the barrier, just wide enough for a land rover to fit through, a few centimetres either side and it would have hit the barrier.

apparently he got a blow out and screwed off the side of the bridge. managed to get out of the car. he must feel terrible.

the papers today say that he might have fallen asleep at the wheel, as the police can't find any traces of a blow out on the land rover

that must make him feel even worse...!

ya, i feel very sorry for him even if it was his fault and he feel asleep. I caused a car accident and no one was seriously injured and i felt absolutly aweful, so i can just image how bad he must feel causeing that much injury and death. Hope they dont press charges against him.

I read today if he's found guilty of causing the accident, his insurers could be in line for a £2billion bill, which would be the world's largest ever claim.

Poor bloke.
